Communications and eMarketing Executive Great Yarmouth c£25,000 closed 20 April 2015

Greater Yarmouth Tourism and Business Improvement Area, is the new five-year Business Improvement District (BID) in the seaside borough of Great Yarmouth.

We are looking for a dynamic, passionate public relations person to really maximise on the tourism offer available in Greater Yarmouth by selling great new stories into tourism media contacts. You’ll have superb, reliable contacts with national travel journalists and an in-depth knowledge of the local area. You’ll seek out unique, fascinating and unusual stories to sell in to national press or use online to promote the area digitally via carefully managed social networks. You’ll be a whiz at email marketing, and know everything there is to know about managing and segmenting an ever-growing email marketing database and how best to entice readers in via great stories.

You’d rather not be tied to a desk on a daily basis, preferring instead to work as and when the story requires. You’ll love getting out and about around the area, meeting the people who really make tourism tick, prepared to work flexible hours to find the story and sell it in to the best media channel, whether local, regional, national or online, but always with an eye to achieve national recognition for the Greater Yarmouth tourism industry.

You’ll have all the right qualifications to prove your journalistic abilities, although you might be a newbie to the game or an old hand thinking about a move to the seaside, but you’ll definitely be totally passionate about tourism, love Greater Yarmouth and be keen to change perception about the area, increase bed nights through great PR and show off Norfolk’s premier beach resort to the best of your ability.

The BID has been voted in for five years until 30 September 2019 in the first instance. This job isn’t necessarily a full-time role, and it definitely wouldn’t suit someone office-based on a daily basis. The hours might change depending on the season and the stories, so if you’ve got the skills, are interested in being flexible and are totally passionate about Greater Yarmouth and getting the story out there, get in touch.

Apply in writing by 9am on Monday 20 April indicating just why you’re the right person for the job and enclosing a detailed CV.
