    Surprisingly awesome set

Written by (AFOL) in United Kingdom,

I love this set, from the build to the minifigures this set is perfect. So perfect I picked up two for my collection even though I disliked the Kenobi show.

    First off the minifigures:

We get four awesome minifigures in this set, first is a new obi wan with a new mullet hair piece and a new cloth piece to complete his new outfit. Next up is the inquisitors, we get three. Reeva looks great it's just a shame she didn't get any leg printing. The grand inquisitors cape is rather odd I think the Darth malgus cape would suit him better. The new armour mold for the inquisitors is awesome and looks great. The new head print for the grand inquisitor looks awesome and alot more accurate to the ROTS paun. Last is the 5th brother (I think), i much prefer this print to the original one back in 2016 and I prefer the armour mould used here as well. All in all a great improvement and awesome figure.

    The set:

The inquisitor transport was a really enjoyable build, how the designers were able to achieve the shape of the ship is incredible. The build experiences is a sold 10/10 for me. As for the build itself the ship looks great, it has a very decently sized interior which can seat three minifigures and has standing room for four. It does actually have a ramp at the front although weather or not that's intentional I'm not 100% sure. The interior also includes additional detail in the form of some stickers but also some storage for the inquisitors lightsabers and their blades. Externally the ship looks great in both landing and flight modes it's sleek design is honestly perfection by Lego 10/10.

    Price:

Honestly I feel like I've been quite critical of Lego over the years but credit where credit is due this set in my eyes is a very reasonable price for what you get.

Honestly overall this is a great set, if you like imperial army building, cool star wars ships or something to display I think this set does an excellent job of hitting that sweet spot between them all. I'd highly recommend picking this up before its no longer on shelves.

    Geometric Perfection

Written by (AFOL) in United Kingdom,

Lego Star Wars sets based on the Disney+ shows can be hit or miss - not because of the designers, but because of the information they're given to work off from spoiler-allergic Lucasfilm. It's understandable, but can also be frustrating.

However, the Scythe is arguably one of the best modern Lego Star Wars sets we've seen in the past few years; the build experience, figures, design, and interior speak to the potential we all long for in Star Wars sets.

Beginning with the Scythe itself, it really is perfect! Harkening somewhat to Director Krennic's shuttle with the front mandibles, I'm amazed at how the various shapes and angles comprising the hull were achieved, but also by how robust the end build really is. We all know that feeling when building a particularly good set where you pause for a moment whilst assembling it and just think to yourself, 'this is so clever'. Despite the above, there's also a full interior with smartly designed seating for the bulky Inquisitors, storage for their lightsaber helicopters, and extra space galore. Topping it all off is the elegant trans-red cockpit piece. Taking these elements together, the Scythe's brutalist shape looks deadly and out for blood; the perfect transport for the Inquisitorius.

Minifigure-wise, top-marks all around. Getting a Ben Kenobi in the Tibidon Station outfit is a nice change from the Wandering Jedi look, and I personally prefer this Grand Inquisitor figure over the 2015 one, which in itself was already perfect. Fifth Brother looks intimidating, though I feel the Reva figure is lacking somewhat because of the hairpiece; the Valkyrie hair from the Thor: Love and Thunder Goat Boat would've been far better. But all in all, the minifigures and new moulds are a delight.

In a perfect world devoid of suffering, this set would have also come with a couple of Purge Troopers; the Scythe certainly has room for more minifigures, but alas. All in all, this is a perfect set, and is the sort of standard I would love to see more of in the Lego Star Wars lineup. I certainly wish that this kind of budget and quality had also gone into 2021's Havoc Marauder and last year's T6 Shuttle, even if it would have bumped up their prices a little.

A beast of a swooshable set

Written by (AFOL) in United Kingdom,

I was (as I suspect many others were) struck by the angles when first viewing this set on release and can confirm it's a unique and visually impressive set.

Whilst not playing a huge role in Kenobi it ticks so many boxes, big, swooshable, impressive display, play functions and very, very black!

The build requires 8 bags and engaged me for a pleasant afternoon, lots of structure first but then coming together quickly with the last 2 bags. The amazing angles created for the front require some focus but are logical in construction and I'd suggest most pre-teens with building experience would be fine.

The completed model looks impressive and much bigger than expected, there's a nice substantial feel when holding (whilst light enough to swoosh in one hand) which is right for quite an expensive set.

The interior is detailed, spacious and easily accessible even for big fingers and is a selling point for this set, no sense of compromises in designing a spacious interior vs the external aesthetics. I've often felt cheated with the larger SW ships when trying to squeeze a couple of minifigs in, well with this there's ample room for all four figures and more.

The figures will be appealing for legends fans with both the grand inquisitor and fifth brother as well as the third sister introduced in Kenobi. All 3 are good prints and with the middle-aged Kenobi included there's scope for play & display.

It is a pricey set but I felt I'd got value for money and can highly recommend as one of the best 2022 wave.
