    Surprisingly Great Set

Written by (AFOL) in United States,

I'm not really a star wars fan, but love nature/landscape sets. Of the ~500 sets I have built, this is easily in the top 15-20. I hope they make more outdoorsy sets.

    Beautiful and Compact

Written by (AFOL) in United Kingdom,

Consensus around the Star Wars Diorama line has been decidedly mixed since its inception in 2022. The focus on capturing the complete aesthetic composition of the scenes these dioramas represent results in a greater degree of detail to these sets, mostly at the expense (ha) of value for money.

However, as my first diorama set, I must say I was impressed with the end result - mostly. Luke's sojourn to Dagobah and his time spent with Yoda form the emotional and spiritual core of the Empire Strikes Back, and capturing it as an immortal diorama makes complete sense.

The set itself certainly achieves the sense of tranquillity and isolation that Dagobah exudes in the film. The overgrown greenery, swampy waters, old and wise-looking trees, and Yoda's humble abode are faithfully recreated. Whilst it wasn't overly enjoyable layering 1x1 trans-green plates and tiles, they bestow the appearance of depth to the 'swamp water' that works wonderfully, especially when paired with the X-Wing, uh, wing, protruding from it.

My main nitpicks with the set mostly reside with Yoda's hut only being half of his hut - cut away at the back. However as stated at the beginning of this review, this scene is a snapshot, not a playset, which makes that omission understandable. I'd also argue the X-Wing wing looks a tad too small, but it doesn't detract from the set by any means.

As for the minifigures; for anyone who owned the 2018 rendition of Yoda's Hut, there isn't much that's new here, though the backprinting for Artoo is a pleasant surprise. And for the diorama quote itself, what line better encapsulates Luke's journey of trying to find conviction in the film?

"Do or do not, there is no try."

All in all, my favourite Lego Star Wars Diorama of 2022, even if it's the only one I own.

    great display piece, but...

Written by (AFOL) in United States,

I think this is a great set, and it looks awesome as a display piece, but oh my god was it annoying to build. It has a great price per piece at 9 cents per piece, but the set itself undermines this by having 255 green 1x1 tiles for the swamp. if you want a fun building experience, sorry because it's kinda tedious. placing all of those 1x1s felt like it took forever.

On the other hand, this set looks nice. I felt that the choice of green could have been a little darker, as it wasn't leprechaun's piss but a swamp, but when looked at with a little distance, the pieces under it make it look darker, still giving off a swamp look. The trees were an interesting build and look good in the completed build. Building the hut was fun, and it seems detailed(?) but doesn't have a raised bed for Yoda, only a flat piece on the ground. I do like that you can see the inside of it from the back, but it seems pointless considering that this is a display piece that would most likely face forward on a wall, blocking off the back.

I still do think that it is worth buying because it looks excellent, but wouldn't recommend it if you hate a tedious build.

Do or do not. There is no try.

This is a pretty cool set with its quote and figures. However, it does not feel like its worth $90. The piece count might make you think you are getting a good deal, but you have to place down 183 1x1 trans-green tiles and 78 1x1 trans-green plates which inflate the piece count and make the set a tedious build for a time. The figures are cool and the build for Yoda's hut is great however I wish the wing of the X-wing was to scale with the normal X-wing sets. I would not pay full price for this but it is a good set to buy at 10-20% off.
