LEGO Star Wars - The Mandalorian Helmet - Set 75328 - Review

Written by (AFOL , rhodium-rated reviewer) in Spain,

This is LEGO set 75328 - The Mandalorian Helmet from the LEGO Star Wars theme with 584 pieces, which came out in 2022.

The build is a lot of fun and there're no stickers to worry about. The helmet has a stand, which has a printed plaque. I really love, how authentic the helmet looks to the Mandalorian helmet from the show. The visor and the colours make it look even better. On the inside is a LEGO Technic skeleton, with a lot of colourful pieces, which helps with durability and the build. This set is fantastic for display on a shelf or desk.

All in all, this set is a great set and I would HIGHLY recommend you to get this. You can find this set on eBay and BrickLink for sure. Here is the link where you can check out the full gallery I made for this set on my website: www.klokriecher.de

I can build you in grey, or I can build you in black.

Intro: I think that the Helmet Collection is a great Star Wars subtheme, reserved for the most memorable Star Wars headgears. And of course, the fact that he sports the beskar helmet that anyone could recognise, is the most iconic part of Din Djarin, a.k.a The Mandalorian. It was basically necessary to include him in this collection.

Did LEGO live up to the Helmet Collection's usual standards?

    No.

    They exceeded them.

The only thing that gets one star for this set is Playability:

This set is made for display. The only thing you could possibly interact with is the angle that the printed display plate is facing (for some reason, you can move the cheeks side-to-side slightly, but I think that is due to the way it is built. Not a real problem though).

Unless a baby got hold of it, I wouldn't count that as playable.

    Building and Pieces

This set was pretty easy in terms of instructions and building method despite it being branded as 18+ (They basically do this to boost sales, yet being quite easy to build by KFOLs. What is it with 18+ tags and black packaging that makes quasi-adult LEGO sets seem so desirable?)

Building the inner helmet is actually more interesting than expected, due to the inclusion of Bright-Coloured Filler Bricks (That's a Brickset article!) as shown below. A minor criticism I have about this is that sometimes these bricks are visible from the outside if not pressed on properly.

The rest of the helmet is taken into small chunks. Some parts are shiny and some aren't but I don't mind this as it adds detail, and if studs weren't visible, that wouldn't feel very LEGO-ish. The only thing I don't like is the use of these bricks in order to create the illusion of shadow on the cheek. At least they did well with the shape of the hollow cheeks.

Another thing I don't like at the back is that the cooling vents (shown below)

aren't detailed enough. They use these parts which I don't think is accurate to the show. The ears are well-built, with pieces that round off the details.

    Should you buy?

Yes, maybe for a special occasion or if you're rich. This set would basically bring together (or start up) a collection of The Mandalorian LEGO sets, but I think that this is more for die-hard collectors who are more willing to spend money than casual builders. Also definitely better if you find this on sale. I would say this set would be worth it for like £50 for MISB condition.

Love the colour variations, one of the quicker builds with only 584 pieces, detail well depicted with so few pieces. Looks stunning along side the other 7

    This is the way

A Mando helmet was a great idea. While only certain parts of the helmet are made with the shiny silver pieces it does not detract from the overall look of the set. The visor piece of the helmet should have been more narrow on the cross-section similar in size to Bobas but other than that I have no complaints, this is a very good-looking helmet set to display next to a boa helmet or Grogru or any other Mando sets or Mando themed displays.
