    A perfect battle pack

Written by (AFOL) in United States,

I'm not going to bother with breaking stuff down. It's 4 stormtroopers and an actual vehicle. There's even proper storage space for their blasters and the extra studs. The whole thing really is quite clever.

There's nothing else to say, it's a battle pack, but one that doesn't waste its parts.

    Classic vehicle in Lego form

Written by (TFOL) in United States,

    75078-Imperial Troop Transport (ITT)

*I will refer to this set and the vehicle as the ITT during this review*

    Building Experience-4/5

Of all the parts of this battle pack, the build is the weakest. That's not surprising though, considering the price point of $15 USD. However, that does not say that the build undermines the fact that it still represents the ITT very well in the general shape.

    Parts-5/5

Of course the other highlight is that you get 4 rebels-style stormtroopers in this set. They appear in 6 total sets, so they are somewhat common. Some highlights of the parts is the box piece which you can never have too many of and 4 of the flag piece in light gray. Besides that the pieces are mostly of the light gray colour. Also included are the always controversial stud shooters, 4 of them to be exact.

    Playability-4/5

Let's talk about the ITT now. Most fans should be able to recognise the ITT instantly, especially because of its newfound presence in Rebels and The Mandalorian. There are 4 places to fit troopers in on the sides, and the flag pieces can be moved up and down to simulate the doors. The crate piece can also slide into the center with a sliding piece. Also within the ITT is spots to store all the stormtrooper's blasters. The ITT is also equipped with 2 flick fire missiles situated towards the back of the vehicle, in the appropriate spot compared to the real model. However where the model falters is the lack of cockpit. There are some trans-gray pieces that are supposed to be a windshield, but it also disrupts the scale of the model because it is quite small in comparison to minifigures.

    Value for money-5/5

For an original price of $15, it was a great deal and a great army builder as well, thanks to it's lack of annoying generic officers and/or crew members (see here). However, it currently goes for around $26 new and $16 used, and I can see it's value increasing over the years because of the novel vehicle. If you like the rebel style stormtrooper, then this set is for you. Otherwise, something like 75262 Imperial Dropship or 75165 Imperial Battle Pack may be better for you, even though they are more expensive.

    Verdict

Great set! I like the recognizable vehicle for once, and having 4 of all the same minifigure is a sight to behold.

I hope you found this review helpful.

    Fond Memories!

Written by (AFOL) in United Kingdom,

Completely biased review, but this is the set that brought me out of my dark ages! The thrill of clicking those pieces together after so many years.

What's not to love! Just a bunch of Stormie's on a transport. Buy a heap of them, I know I did!

    Perfect

    Freeze rebel!

Written by (Parent , platinum-rated reviewer) in Japan,

Still packing a great punch. After a few years of Star Wars Rebels and many sets with these Stormtroopers how have they held up? Let's read on.

    The Minifigures:

Like most battlepacks their appeal lies in their figures. This battlepack bears 4 Rebels styled Imperial Stormtroopers. But there in lies the rub for many folks with regards to this set. The printing is quite blocky and is more accurate to the TV show that inspired the set than to the Stormtroopers most fans are used to seeing on film.

We get 4 armor prints and helmets that are identical and 2 pairs of head prints, though both types of head prints are for clone troopers, something which is very odd as the series takes place much closer to Episode IV and thus most clones would be too old for continued active duty in the Galactic Empire.

That said the printing is very well done for what it is and the colors contrast well with the all-white armor of these troopers.

    The Build:

At just a bit over 100 pieces the build is simple and the lack of stickers make it go that much faster.

    The Completed Model:

Once complete we get a very small version of what otherwise would be a very large transporter capable of holding many more troopers than the 4 this one carries. Still this design would go on to be used in the Freemaker Adventures and it looked oddly fitting there.

As this one has no room for a pilot you will have to pretend the entire vehicle is a droid and the troopers issue commands to it. The model comes with a crate in the center of the build for extra ammo for our troopers. Additionally it has 2 flick-fire missiles on a turret on the aft section and two very large cannon barrels on the nose. Despite its sole function as a transport it actually can defend the troopers and provide fire support.

    Overall:

Before getting into this line of Star Wars LEGO I was very hesitant about the troopers' design. Though I personally have grown to really like it. The colors are bold and the troopers, despite the more accented frown, do manage to fit in nicely with their more accurately printed brethren.

Still, I realize that for many their appearance is a deal breaker. If, however, you do not mind the look and simply need to amass many troopers then this set was quite a bargain and if you can still get your hands on it for a reasonable price it will still be able to fill your Stormtrooper ranks quickly. Plus they look great in multiples and with regular blasters. Not a bad little set.

Don't Rebel against getting this pack

Written by (AFOL , gold-rated reviewer) in United States,

After rebuilding my 4483 AT-AT in early 2015, I noticed that I could do with a few more troops on the Imperial side. With that on my mind, one of the first things I bought with my pay from my spring seasonal job was this battle pack. At the time I had no interest in Rebels (due to a now-embarrassing misconception that reading up on the show cleared up), but four Stormtroopers was four Stormtroopers.

    Box/Instructions

The box is small enough that you could just about cram it into the lower pocket of a pair of cargo shorts, as befits a battlepack. Like most smaller LEGO boxes these days, it has glued sides and a punch-out flap (both for ease of opening and as a deterrent to people filching parts and figures out of the box). It depicts the transport and its passengers in action on Lothal.

The instructions are clear and easy to follow. You might want to let them sit open for a bit, let them lose some of their springiness from being crammed into the confines of the package.

    Parts

Most of the parts are plates and slopes, in white and gray with a little red. Can be used in many things if one should choose to break the vehicle up. There's also some more interesting parts, such as a 2x2 turntable plate, some 1x2 double-hole Technic bricks, three 1x4 bricks with a groove in the side for sliding functions, and a 2x2x2 crate. You also get four stud-shooting blasters, their triggers, and plenty of translucent red studs to load them with.

    Minifigures

You get four standard Imperial Stormtroopers. They have very detailed printing, which stands out considerably when placed next to older stormtrooper minifigs. There is some stylization to match the cartoon, namely the exaggerated "frown" of the filter, but it's easily enough ignored when standing them amongst the ranks of non-stylized troopers. They use the same two generic human faces as the other 2015 battle packs.

    The build

The build goes by quickly, as one would expect for such a small, simple set. You're not going to be pulling your hair out trying to build this unless you're having a really bad day.

    The completed model

The completed model is a shrunken, somewhat deformed version of the transports from the show; like a four-man Microfighter version. It's closer in relative size to the show vehicle's inspiration (a Kenner toy called the Imperial Troop Transporter). The two barrels of the roof turret are represented by flick-fire missiles for extra play value. It's fairly solid and holds the troopers easily.

    Overall opinion

This is an excellent battle pack set. You get four regular soldiers, making it ideal for building armies up. The transport itself is very nice both as a model in its own right, and as a source of parts should you choose to break it up (as I did). It's well worth getting, and getting duplicates of.
