    Clearly meant to be $20

Let's be honest, we all want this set for the figures. Although the build for this set is nice, the Dixie Kong and Squawks figures are the main draw. Both use new prints, and Dixie even gets brand-new moulds for her arms and legs. The designers knocked it out of the park with these two figures.

The stage included is a good build too. Between the trees and lanterns, the stage has an excellent backdrop for the figures. The stage itself is made mostly of large gear pieces. This presents the set's only action feature, a simple turning motion to make Dixie and Squawks dance. Of course, we need to keep in mind that this action feature was made for the course building system. While I wish Mario was kept out of the DK sets, the annoying tile in the center of the stage is easy enough to just leave out. If we can look past the Mario side of these Donkey Kong sets, I think the theme gets better as a whole. As for this individual set, I wish the action feature had a little more to offer, but it's still decent. The set is rounded out with a table featuring two maracas and a red guitar (presumably for Diddy).

Besides the ugly tile for Mario on the stage, this set only has one problem: the price. This set was likely going to be $20 before the price increases, a price I think is fair. However, this set was bumped up a whopping $7 when released. Much like the 332nd battle pack from Star Wars, I feel Lego has gone too far bumping up their $20 sets to $27. This set simply costs too much. If you can wait for the 20% off sale that eventually hits most sets, I think you'll be happy with this purchase.

All in all, this set is probably my least favourite of the Donkey Kong theme, though that doesn't make it a bad set. It's still a great addition to the DK line of sets, especially with the exclusive Dixie and Squawks figures. Just be sure to get it on a discount.
