    All it needed was donuts......

Lego City Undercover is my favorite game produced by Lego-besides Lego Dimensions- and this was a great way to experience Lego City anew. this fun pack features a new Chase McCain minifigure with his grapple gun from the original game. The pack also includes a police helicopter so Chase can fly around Lego City. Chase has the ability to use his detective scanner for tracking. He also has acrobatics and the grapple ability of course. He also has four other suits to choose from. With the miner suit, he has silver Lego blowup and cracked Lego objects. With the fireman suit he has a water beam from his fire extinguisher. With the astronaut suit he can fly, use targeting, and use teleportation pads. With the farmer suit he can use targeting and glide with his chicken. Finally, with his construction worker outfit he can use his jackhammer but for whatever reason cannot fix broken objects.

Thanks for reading this review of 71266 Chase McCain fun pack!

LEGO City Collides with LEGO Dimensions

Written by (AFOL , rhodium-rated reviewer) in Canada,

Set #71266 LEGO City Undercover Fun Pack: I think this is a first, a LEGO Video Game being used in another LEGO Video Game to expand on the lore of the LEGO City Undercover franchise. This entire Fun Pack is used to unlock the LEGO City game universe in LEGO Dimensions, so if you haven’t played that game yet you’ll wind up a little lost on the storyline info, but that’s a minor complaint.

    Packaging

Chase McCain is prominent on the package, the main character of LEGO City Undercover. The Adventure World can be seen on the back and you can see a lot of detail behind Chase on the front showing off the sprawling world of LEGO City.

    Parts

This set isn’t impressive on the parts, it’s pretty weak compared to other LEGO Dimensions packs, there are no unique elements found here that you can’t find anywhere else, with exception of the Toy Tag of course.

    Minifigures

Chase McCain: A LEGO City Police Officer with a name? Well this Minifigure is pretty awesome if you collect LEGO City, but honestly it is just a standard LEGO Police Officer with hair instead of a cap or motorcycle helmet, but that’s the entire point. No unique parts for him, he uses the ‘mega phone’ element with a hook element to make a grapple gun for him as an accessory. Chase has the unique distinction of being the only Yellow Minifigure released in Dimensions Series 2. Every single other character was from a licensed property.

    The build

Police Helicopter: This is a great little build and really impressive. Not much to discuss though.

Police Hovercraft: A great re-use of parts to turn a helicopter into a hovercraft, an easy and simple build as there are limited parts to use.

Police Plane: The final build is highly unusual looking and a bit odd, but rather inspired considering these parts are also used to make a helicopter model. This build is pretty creative with the small selection of parts found in the set and stands out because of it.

    The completed model

Police Helicopter & Alternate Builds: This set’s models are pretty similar to each other in design, all three models look like larger vehicles you’d see in LEGO City. The only thing I enjoy about them are the unique way they’ve designed the three models. With these limited number of pieces these models are interesting, they look great and the printed elements typical of LEGO City Police sets help enhance the overall appearance of them.

All three models are pretty solid too, they look great as vehicles for your collection and I’d suggest getting some of the parts from your LEGO City sets to make these things if you can’t find or purchase this set for a decent price.

    The Digital Content

The Adventure World: This is the same City seen in LEGO City Undercover, it is not as expansive as that hub world due to the nature of this game, but it’s still rather impressive. I feel the puzzles and quests in this world require a lot of knowledge of the other game to appreciate them more, but mostly with this one I didn’t find any glitches or issues while playing through it.

Battle Arena: When Chase is on the Toy Pad you can access the Festival Square Revisited for four player action, this too is linked to the storyline from LEGO City Undercover, which I have still yet to play, so I have no idea what this looks like since I never entered this battle arena.

Character & Vehicle Ability: Chase McCain has a large selection of abilities, he has Relic Detector, Illumination, Acrobat, Target, Grapple, Tracking, Hacking, Flying, Drill, Water Spray, Growth, Hazard Cleaner and can Destroy Cracked and Silver LEGO Objects. The reason why Chase can do all this is because he comes with unique costumes that allow him to assume these different abilities. Chase can become a Firefighter, Construction Worker, Spaceman and one or two other costumes I’ve forgotten.

The Police Helicopter can access Flight Docks and Flight Cargo Hooks and has Tow bar and Special Attack. The Hovercraft can Destroy Gold LEGO Objects, use Accelerator Switches and Super Jump as well as Tow Bar. The Police Plane can do almost everything that the Helicopter can, but instead of using Tow Bars it can use Drone Mazes.

    Overall opinion

This is a pretty enjoyable Fun Pack, I would recommend it mostly for the Digital Content, as the builds are rather limited and they aren’t very unique or impressive compared to the other sets in LEGO Dimensions. Even Ninjago has more unique ideas due to the source material, there isn’t much you can do with LEGO City as a Theme, so it’s nice to at least see this set working as a decent way to get a Chase McCain Minifigure. Slightly Recommended.
