I loved LEGO as a kid and the road plates were a major reason for this. These plates were great. I am sorry to see that they have been updated since I was a kid but things change over time. I still have these plates and am so happy that they survived my mom's purging of my childhood LEGO!

    Green Cross Code

Written by (AFOL , rhodium-rated reviewer) in United Kingdom,

Here is another two piece 'plasphalt' set. The dark green lines remain with solid white ones. The plates design and interaction get a bit more exciting here.

    Look Both Ways

Here the crossroads provide four zebra crossings for MFs to get safely across the street. Traffic lights and beacons can be built and added of course. The straights and curves are preferable with less need for crossroads, unless you want a grid or the building space diminishes hugely.

Again, the road can be built over with all manner of buildings or activity, corners and crossroads like this being potentially good action staging areas. The construction and maintenance crews and sets again are very suitable along with emergency services, ordinarily requiring their own estate! Such potential creating a high build score.

Small pavements are what MF pedestrians need but don't expect these plates to go far without some straights or curves. Country conversions won't look as fitting with these crossroads as well, so they are best in town centres and similar. They can also provide an open first floor to a big building built on its four corners such as a depot, office block or hq if you have the bricks available.

Tilting these in to a hill will provide some danger and action on the crossings and the room for imagination remains expansive. There is plenty of fun for kids to make here and extended use for any builder to integrate with sets of practically any age.

    Highways & Byways

Excellent pieces for any city layout, best used in conjunction with some roadside accessories, usually best custom built.
