    Thunder mobile

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in Portugal,

Very nice jeep with a minifig and lots of utensils to start your garden adventures. I study very ant houses with this one.

I learned to respect their homes and even stuffed lots of sugar in that box to deliver to them.

Grandma used to laugh and laugh as I went to her garden looking for more ant cities with my sidekick Johnny Thunder!!

    Great small set

    Written by (AFOL) in Netherlands,

This was the very first I have ever owned of the Adventurers theme back in 1998.
I used to play hours after hours with just this set and the small tomb I got shortly after this.

For it's time there where a great many parts that where new and very exciting as the Lego become more and more detailed.

Also this was one of the first themes to use a great deal of Tan for the sets.
Now almost 14 years later I still love this set and I remember the times I played with this as a child =)

If you have nothing of this era I say this is definately the set to get started with to spark your interest for the rest of this theme.

    Possibly my favorite Lego set...

Written by (TFOL) in United Kingdom,

I got this for what was probably my fourth birthday. While it was not my first Lego set, it was amongst the first, and has remained one of my favourites ever since.

While there were plenty of more complex or more detailed but otherwise very similar cars in the other sets, this one was a summary of them all.

It used several interesting, moulded pieces--the body, the radiator and the crate--and printed pieces (the map, the instrument panel), but they all came together to form a compact and good-looking car. The tools and scorpion set the scene quite nicely, I thought.

The only complaints I really have are the headlights: it doesn't have any? Was this just Lego saving on pieces to cut down the price, just an oversight, or was it on purpose?

This is still one of my favourite smaller Lego sets, and though I've added headlights and a few other pieces, it looks the part on a late colonial-era street in my Lego town!

SHHHH, be vewry, vewry quiet, I'm tracking Scorpions.

Written by (AFOL , rhodium-rated reviewer) in Canada,

Set #5918 Scorpion Tracker: In 1997 there came another new theme for the LEGO group. That theme was Adventurers, featuring Johnny Thunder, Sam Sinister, Dr. Killroy? and others the theme took us from the wonders of ancient Egypt to the dangers of the Amazon Rain Forest and even into a lost world of prehistoric monsters.

Being a fan of LEGO I was hoping to collect my fair share of Adventurers sets right alongside many others, but in the 90's I was in my late teens and so collected in fits and spurts, with whole years going by where I wouldn't buy anything and then suddenly be bitten by the bug again and start amassing the wonders of LEGO.

This makes for a very nice addition to any LEGO Collection, I've had it since it first came out and though I have to improvise in its construction using replacement pieces such as a white steering wheel in place of the grey one I still can't get enough of this little set.

It is basically a 1930's era automobile, add it to any LEGO City display and you're instantly transported back in time. The Mini-Figure of Johnny Thunder has been given out more times than I can count on one hand, but he's still an interesting and early attempt at a LEGO version of Indiana Jones. His hat looks more like a Safari style hat then Doctor Jones' though and he sports a very stylish looking mustache.

The set also includes digging implements, a map to the Pharaoh's tomb, a rifle and two dangerous black scorpions. It may even be possible to add headlights to the vehicle with a few spare clear studs, they'd even look like old-timey headlights too, I haven't tried it yet. Johnny also comes with black binoculars so there's a nifty accessory to have. (And this was when the binocular piece was new, nowadays it's a tad more common.)

Despite being a simple build I find the construction to be quite satisfying, it's a far cry different from building the more modern vehicles of the LEGO City theme and it includes a molded piece that I find fascinating, from an aesthetic standpoint it looks unique in my limited collection/display.

And this set is definitely fun, if you're looking to build up some old time cars for your LEGO City display or LEGO Automotive display then you can't go wrong with the Scorpion Tracker, just watch out for the Scorpions, even if they are big they can still be dangerous.

    One of my favorites!

Written by (Unspecified , bronze-rated reviewer) in United States,

This set was one of the very first lego sets I had ever gotten. My beginning journey into the lego universe. My sister helped me build it, but after that I built everything myself. This set at the time was a really good one. It was simple to build, the detail of Johnny Thunder was cool looking, and the pieces held very strong. Looking at it in my showcase makes me reminisce of great times.
