    Mini Star Destroyer Review

Written by (AFOL , rhodium-rated reviewer) in United States,

Living in a Studio Apartment at the time, the mini builds made for easy, economical and space saving ways to get sets of different various Star Wars ships without having to break a budget. I'm enough of a Star Wars fan to enjoy getting these small sets and displaying and moving them around.

    Box/Instructions

Many of these Mini Builds I picked up had plastic containers they came in, which was a bit frustrating on getting home and trying to open them up.

The instructions are in booklet form with clear easy to follow step-by-step illustrations. Where previous Mini Sets had extra pieces for a bonus build when all of them are collected, this one doesn't.

    Parts

As a small set, there's a total of 87 making it a good deal for the $6.99 I picked this up at. There's plenty of pieces here for use in other MOCs for those so inclined.

    The build and completed model

The build is very solid, even after a year in storage, the vast majority of this set was still together and it took very little to reassemble it.

And for mini builds, the Star Destroy was able to capture a lot of detail of the larger scale version seen in the movies.

    Summary

As said before, these mini models make for great economical and space saving ways to get different, various Star Wars sets made of LEGO pieces without having to break a budget. So obviously, if you love the mini builds, this was clearly worth getting. And if you don't like the mini builds, there are always other sets to consider.

    Super Cute!

    Written by (AFOL) in Canada,

The mini-scale Star Destroyer is super-cute and fun.

It's the perfect size for a young child to build and play with.

There are just enough pieces to make it an interesting build for a child, but not so many to make it frustrating for him/her.

As the model does not feature any sloped hull plates (unlike the midi-scale or full-scale versions), the construction is much more solid and therefore much less likely to come flying apart when your child is flying it around the living room.

The level of detail is not super but is pretty good for a mini-scale model, and as mentioned before, what it gives up in detail it makes up in solid construction.

This model does not include stickers whatsoever.

Great star destroyer set for 2004

Written by (TFOL , gold-rated reviewer) in United Kingdom,

This set for 2004 is very good and has lots of great parts. You can only really display it but goes well with other mini sets e.g millenium falcon mini.

Of course since this came out the much improoved Imperial star destroyer has coem out and is much more realistic however the old one is still pretty good and much reasonable as the new is £35 and the old one is only £7.00.

It is probably now better and cheaper to get the new one but if you really want the original go for it!

  • The best along with the Millennium Falcon

Written by (TFOL , gold-rated reviewer) in United States,

It's very detailed, to start with. It even has the correct engine positions on the back. There really isn't much to say about it though. It does have an angled bit on the back which you can see in the picture. It also has 4 dark-gray studs which seem to resemble the cannons. The bridge is probably the least detailed part of the model, but it's still a great set. One thing I don't understand though. The binocular piece on the front top is out of place. To my knowledge, there is no gun there, and if it's supposed to add to the slope, it's sticking too far up.
Overall a great set. The detail is nice, and it's just great. If you don't have it, get it. If you already have it and hate it, get it out and use it as a paper weight. That's all the advice I can give.
