    Excellent Pirate Starter!

Written by (AFOL) in United Kingdom,

This is my second POTC set as I thought some of the figs might make a welcome addition to my Black Pearl! This is a great set, a mix of parts, wonderful Minifigs (Barbossa!!) and a good set for the price. My only problem is that it nees to be a little bigger, a plate or two would have done nicely! Anyway some good and bad points:

    Pros

    • Great figs (All exclusive!)
    • Nice mix of parts for other MOCs
    • Wonderful little boat
    • Gold pieces! (Mine were shiny chrome!)
    • Swords, Hats and other great parts.

    Cons

    • More plates needed for sword fighting space.
    • Needs Will Turner or others like Girl Raggeti and Pintel!

Overall a fantastic set with great parts, figures and apart from the cons (Easily fixable) it is worth the price! Buy it even if its not on sale! If you like Pirates and have a spare £20, get it! You won't regret it!

    Final score 9/10

Finally! A New Jack Facial Expression.

Written by (TFOL) in United States,

I got this set today after seeing "On Stranger Tides" and thought that I'd reveiw it.

    Box

    4/5

The box is great except for one thing:it shows SHINEY gold coins and bars, NOT pearl gold. Actually, though, it doesn't matter because they match the other "gold" coins and cup.

    Parts

    5/5

So much gold! (and other parts, too) A rowboat, A NEW JACK FACIAL EXPRESSION, apples, muskateer hats and more.

    Minifigures

    5/5

All minifigs are exclusive here. Barbossa (non-solider), Skeleton Barbossa(his sword sheath doesn't stay still, though), Elizabeth, and Jack (WITH A NEW FACIAL EXPRESSION!)

    The build

    5/5

The build is normal for a $20 set. What more is there to say?

    The completed model

    5/5

The playability is great with this set, only one weird thing: why is there a jewel in the water?

    Summary

    Four Words:

    Get.

    This.

    Set.

    Soon.

Note: Works well with the zombies from "The Captains Cabin" and Will Turner.

    I feel...cold -Hector Barbossa

Written by (KFOL) in United States,

When I first got this set, I didn't think it was that cool. This review proves that I was wrong.

Jack Sparrow: There is nothing really special about Jack, but he does have a new head piece: one side with him snarling and another side with his cursed face.

Elizabeth Swann: This minifig is Elizabeth in her red dress(given to her from Barbossa) from the first movie. Her hair would be great for a custom minifig.

Hector Barbossa: Barbossa has alot of cool pieces . 1. The collectable series 4 musketeer minifig's hat. 2. A green apple (this makes sense if you have watched the first movie). 3. One of those new sword holder pieces.

Skeleton Barbossa: Cursed form of Barbossa. He should have some clothes on!

Rowboat: This is just a normal rowboat with a lamp in front and two benches in it.

Chest of Cortes: The chest has alot of gold pieces including a gold crystal, gold studs, a gold bar, and features a sliding top to reveal the cursed Aztec gold coins inside.

Isla de Muerta: The Isla has a part that is water where it features a mast in the back and you push on a Technic pin, and the mast falls and a land part where it features a function where you put Barbossa in the front and Skeleton Barbossa in the back and you can rotate it using one of those new column pieces in Atlantis to make it look like Barbossa is turning into a skeleton. It is all littered with gold.

This proves that this set is way cooler than I imagined it!

Your off the edge of the map mate, Here there be monsters! - Hector Barbossa

Written by (TFOL) in United Kingdom,

Great addition to start of the new theme. Comes with great detailed minifigures.

The Cove itself is split into two pieces, One side with the Chest of Cortes; Which includes 8 cold coins (Not 882 as in the film :D), It has room to stand one minifig so you can re-enact the final duel or the capture of Elizabeth.

The second and largest piece consists of some water where you can row in with your boat. It can be sealed by pushing the lever which sends a mast toppling down which closes the entrance. As you pass some shiny treasure (Coins and gold bars), you reach the transformation wheel where you place Barbossa on each side, And turn it asif the moonlight had triggered the curse.

    Minifigures:

Captain Jack Sparrow: With swashbuckling detail on all body pieces, Including the unique hair piece which holds a lot of detail with the bandana and little trinkets. The torso is identical with the film holding much detail in the print. His face has a determined grin. When you turn his head, he too becomes a cursed skeleton; though a seperate body piece is not incluuded, His accessories are his sword, and trusty compass (2 are included).

Captain Hector Barbossa: With a grand coat printed right down to the legs, He is unmistakably the most detailed figure in the set, Nice hat with blue feather, And an uncut beard as his face, His accessories are a sword, Green apple, And a new bandoleer to hold his cutlass in place.

Cursed Barbossa: Mad up of Ninjago skeleton piece, He has a more rib-like feel to him, Legs with little black boots, and long, smooth arms, He has the same face as normal barbossa, apart from its white with grey hair. Accessories are identical to normal Barbossa.

Elizabeth Swann/Turner: Nice hair, Long and light brown, Gown comes into a proper dress piece for legs, with printed detail from top to bottom. The head is two-faced, One with a rather smug smile, the second is a screaming, Or if next to the chest it's more like "YOU FOUND ME TREASURE"

Overall it's a nice little set to begin your POTC theme, I would recommend this to anyone who likes the films.

    Pros:

    Captain Barbossa (My favorite)

    Jack Sparrow

    Elizabeth Swann

    Cursed Barbossa

    Row Boat

    Chest of Cortes

    Transformation base.

    Treasure

    Cons:

    Will Turner?
