A Fantastic Seasonal Set, Why I Adore the Carrot House!!!

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in United States,

The Easter Bunny's Carrot House is one of my favourite sets in recent times, and it's inspired me creatively. I adore the brick-built character design of the titular Easter Bunny. After building the set, I rummaged through my own parts to try and recreate the design with as many different re-colors as I could manage. While I'm not a fan of the common googly eye print, the compact nature of the design is really cute to me, and helps support the quaint charm of this set.

The general shape of the carrot house is simple, yet effective. My main critique of the design is that the stickers are a little off color, and the carrot's stem is particularly prone to falling off. The details added to make the carrot house feel like a cosy cottage are so charming to me, from the mailbox to the pictures framed on the inside... The graphic design in this set is brilliant and does wonders to characterise the set further.

On a side note this is one of the sets I own with the lowest user rating on Brickset, and I wonder why exactly that is? My guess is that it's because this was a GWP so many people who wouldn't normally be interested in this set received it, leading to the lower than average score.

In conclusion I adore the LEGO Bunny Carrot House, it's full of fun and now I've got a tiny army of LEGO bunnies.

Bright, fun little set that's good play value

Written by (Parent , silver-rated reviewer) in United Kingdom,

This was quite fun to build with some nice technique, and good play value in the design.

The build is quite unusual for a small house, using a nice sideways (SNOT) technique to build up the orange outer walls and windows which are then connected to the outside of the inner, white walls. This enables some interior decoration together with the carrot shaping of the outside. None of the techniques were too tricky for young builders and it all comes together quite solidly.

There is some nice parts use, a nice hidden element in the attic and fun details fitting out the overall appearance, such as the chest of drawers, the flowers in the garden and the various foliage elements. Nothing too fancy, but adds some nice touches to the overall appearance. For the adult fan, nothing too special but lots of orange and white which are the current colours for space themed sets.

Plenty of stickers, but I don't think much is lost by excluding them. As normal for me, I left them off and the model still looks just as good and plays just as well. The closest to an essential sticker is the one for the mirror inside.

The little bunny figure is quite cute, and being made of fairly common parts it was quite easy to build a second one so it has a playmate. Doing so considerably increased the play value for my daughter.

My daughter has had a lot of fun playing with this one, and the extra bunny I made really added to the fun.

As a GWP, it was worth spending to get it. Easter GWPs from previous years have turned up for purchase later (e.g. 40371 Easter Egg) and if this does come up for sale, I would recommend it as a purchase.
