Nice to have a SW set we've never seen before!

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in United States,

Introduction – As soon as this wave was announced this set captured my attention. I’ve never been to Galaxy’s Edge so I don’t really know the “official” background story of this ship, but I love Star Wars vessels that aren’t in main stream like the Falcon, or Tie fighters etc. After collecting for a few years, I’ve really come to appreciate a ship in LEGO form never produced before.

Minifigures – 7/10 – Honestly it feels like there are only 2 minifigures in this set, with the droids not really fitting the character vibe. Vi’s hairpiece is more of a gradient change from black to blue than the photos suggest here. She has 2 face prints and mine were significantly printed off center. Her torso is amazing with great detail and a hint of reflective printing. The legs are just ok on both figures. Lieutenant Bek is a nice headpiece and torso. Really appreciate getting another Alien in a rebel uniform. The Astromech has a First Order feel to it, great printing and color scheme. The GNK power droid is fine. Doesn’t get me too excited, especially when you could just build one out of common spare parts from any old set you have lying around. For a $100 set with only 2 traditional minifigures you’re left wishing for more in that area.

The Build – 10/10 – The build has a lot of technic structure to provide a very supportive base to build off but I enjoyed how the bricks were incorporated so that it didn’t feel like a hollow shell. Some sets it seems like you just cover up the technic pieces with plates at the end but this set integrates bricks, SNOT and technic building very well. It has something of everything which makes the build more enjoyable. I liked the fact that it really takes some time before you see the end build come to shape. The way the cockpit lid fits into place is smooth and the opening doors on the side feel very true to universe. There is more repetition in a set like this but with all those engines, you come to expect that.

Parts – 10/10 - The color scheme of light bluish grey and blue really fit well together. There are random white highlights on the ship that I personally don’t care for as they seem out of place. The wide array of parts are well utilized and there are several that are just recently added to LEGO's arsenal. I’m not a huge fan of technic building but this set does a good job of integrating those parts with more traditional bricks making it enjoyable. The finish tile pieces do a good job of giving the ship a textured and complete look.

Value – 8/10 – When you look at the part to price it’s not far off on value. The biggest hit to the value is the lack of minifigures. I mean let’s be real here $100 and you essentially get 2 characters, a droid and a brick build droid? I really feel like they should have included 2 more minifigures to make this price justifiable. The ship itself really holds up it’s end of the deal. You won’t be disappointed as it’s a solid vessel with good shape. I understand these minifigures will probably be unique to this set alone, but I just can’t say it’s worth the price all the way around. Toss in 2 generic rebel troopers or a trooper and Nien Nunb and then it’s a must have. I don’t think the price needs to come down to complete the set the right way it just needs a few more figures.

Overall – 9/10 - I really liked the build, I love having a different variety when it comes to Star Wars ships. I hope they look to incorporate more from Galaxy's Edge, Fallen Order, Mandalorian and other not so main stream builds. This ship has great cargo space to put a few figures or crates in. Love the ramp/door system and the huge engines look great on the back end. The cockpit however is small and lacking detail. I feel like they could have put control tiles on the sides next to the seat to improve it. Overall the ship is great! Not a lot of stickers as the bricks tell the story. The minifigures that are included are pretty good. I don’t think they are essential to any collection but unique to this set for sure. As I said if they would have added to the minifig selection it would be a hit. In the end this is a great build. I can’t say that it’s a must have because of the high price and only 2 traditional minifigures but worth it to expand your collection if you find it attractive like I did.

Great Addition to the Imperial Fleet

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in United States,

Introduction – Unfortunately I just missed the last Imperial Shuttle Tydirium set 75094 so when I saw a fresh opportunity to get an Imperial Shuttle I had to have it! I know it’s not on screen in some versions of a New Hope and when it is present, it’s just for a second but I really wanted to build an Imperial Shuttle. Here’s my review!

Minifigures – 10/10 First off the R2-D2 will make a fine addition to your R2-D2 army with great printing. It’s as good as it gets there. Obi-Wan isn’t exclusive here but it’s still a good figure yet the hairpiece feels outdated. It’s good and works for the figure but some of the more updated, current detailed hairpieces would have been awesome. The Imperial pilot is amazing. I love the dark flight suit with the hat and Imperial design on it. The sand troopers are my favorite here. You get 2, one with a black pauldron and one with an orange which both are rare in sets. I love the detail of sand giving these figures a grit look. Seriously these minifigures make the selection top notch. I mean they even have brick built life support backpacks on them.

The Build – 9/10 The build goes together fairly well although there are some gaping issues around some of the cargo doors and the “neck” of the ship. The designers do a good job of trying to add details that look mechanical in those gaps easing the imperfections. Honestly it’s just a part of Lego when you are building curved surfaces with bricks and brick like pieces. I still feel the ship is solid with a good technic core. The finishing pieces look outstanding but it displays better at certain angles. Honestly I left off the stickers as sometimes white bricks clash with white stickers, but I don’t think the stickers are a must at all. If anything leaving them off makes the design feel sleeker. The model has a great amount of cargo or troop space inside. If you position it well you could get up to 12 storm troopers in the cargo bay. The loading ramp is also a really cool play feature that would pose well.

Parts – 9/10 The white bricks look very clean on this ship, it makes you want to swoosh this thing! The large cargo area parts are a rare selection and the technic pieces are mostly hidden but create a very firm model. The designers really did a good job using newer pieces to add a level of detail to the ship. For instance the shield pieces that make the landing gear just give this a more detailed feel. After the build the only downside would be I did add a few finishing pieces, especially around the “neck” which helped to hide and enclose more of the ship.

Value – 8/10 The retail price of $90 hits pretty hard on this set. I did purchase it right as it got on the shelves so possibly my excitement blinded me a bit. When you get the set put together, to me it doesn’t feel $90. If you could find this set for $70 or less it would be a great addition to your Star Wars collection. I was excited to buy it but after I built it, I definitely felt like waiting for a discount would have been a more strategic method. Sure there are some bigger pieces and a good number of minifigures but to me, it was just a little higher than I would have liked.

Overall – 10/10 I really love this set; to this day it is one of my favorites. The white armor stands out in my collection of Imperial vessels and the fact that it’s full of space for troops is perfect. Seriously you could cram 12 stormtroopers in it and a 13th if you include the pilot. I love the iconic Star Wars ships but also, having a variant to the iconic ships gives the Lego Star Wars line more depth. Plus I love when they come out with new stuff never before used. The Imperial minifigures are hands down a prize to behold, and recently it seems like sets that have 5 minifigures are become less prevalant. I had a lot of fun building this set after missing the Tydirium Shuttle in 2015. Based on pictures I think this ship is different enough that even if you have the Tydirium this would be an excellent addition to any Lego Star Wars collection adding depth the your Imperial Fleet!

"He's kind of a strange old hermit"

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in United States,

Introduction – As a Star Wars fan I always consider every single set that comes out each year. When I saw this set I was stoked to see something new out of the line. Obi-Wan’s hut in itself is something we’ve never received so I bought it, built it, and now I’ll review it!

Minifigures – 9/10 First off you get another R2-D2 which will fit perfectly in your R2-D2 army that I’m sure you have amassed already! The Tusken Raider body print is new for this year which a little variation goes a long way when you have several of the same figures. And variation to Obi-Wan is nice as well. He’s a figure that has a huge Lego wardrobe for being an old hermit in the Dune Sea, but I’ll definitely take this new version! And finally this Luke is in my opinion is as good as it gets for Lego, so no complaints.

The Build – 7/10 This is a fairly simple build and I’ll speak more to it’s size below but it does feel pretty small. The kitchen area seems unfinished and the clips on the bottom of the set make it seem like there is more to come… or there should have been more? The seating area is iconic and built well here. There are some unique textures implemented in the build but overall this is a fairly easy, straight forward build.

Parts – 9/10 So to anyone who is a Lego Star Wars fan, tan parts are plentiful and this set has a great mix. I love the 2 tan variations included to give it a more authentic look. In the 200 part count, a lot of small parts are included. I think if you put two of these sets together you’d be able to make it more of a complete set because in the back kitchen area it just ends sort of abruptly. That is I suppose where your imagination can begin.

Value – 9/10 Before you look at the part count, and you hold this completed model in your hand, it feels like $20, maybe $25. It is small, but the opening aspect of the hut makes access to the interior very easy. When you close it up it’s very satisfying on 3 of the 4 sides. The only imperfection would be the open kitchen side. With a small set like this you do hope for more detail which this set definitely delivers there. There is shelving, a trunk for storage, a stove complete with green-goop-soup, and artifacts along the walls. Oh and the training droid and Leia hologram are incredible elements which pack a punch! Those details, mixed with the 4 minifigures to me make the set worth the $30 retail.

Overall – 9/10 When I initially finished my build the overall feel was it was very small and the hut itself wasn’t worth the original price. Which I think the Hut would be the main draw for everyone to buy this set. It doesn’t feel finished on the backside and potentially needs more parts out of your collection to wrap it up. BUT, If you stop and look at the fact you get 4 figures, many interior details, the training droid and the princess Leia hologram you realize how good this set really is. Not to mention that nothing like it has been constructed by Lego before. Honestly if you wanted, you could get a few of these sets to build your own village in Tatooine if you found a discount. Overall I do like the set, and you have to look at everything you get, not just the Hut build itself. If you are a Star Wars fan, you’ll appreciate this set and mine looks great next to my Mos Eisley Cantina.

This Burger Bar is on Fiiiire!

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in United States,

Introduction – As soon as this set was released it caught my eye as a fun little food stand that I had to have. It is unique in its small form but very well-built in the fact it resembles a common but maybe overlooked building you’d see in any city.

Minifigures – 8/10 The two firefighter figures are unique and great additions to the set, with the dark tan figure being my favorite in the bunch. The Burger Bar chef is a good figure as well. I wasn’t blown away by any of them but it contains a good mix to not be too repetitive.

The Build – 9/10 the firetruck build is different in which the rear portion is essentially hollow to fit the giant turkey baster hose unit. It’s a good play feature but slightly takes away from the “real” look of the truck. The Burger Bar was the real draw for me. It’s a simple build really but I love the menu sign stickers, with the sliding glass window and the green and mustard yellow striping on the building. It all just looks so awesome all put together. Yes, it’s not a huge building but nor is it’s real world counterpart. The Burger sign is very clever and if you’d like to remove the fire elements on the back, this would easily blend into any city layout.

Parts – 10/10 The parts for this set won’t be very good for a part pack, it truly builds the vehicle and the stand using as few pieces as possible but does so in a very efficient way. This mix of color makes it visually appealing. I recommend buying it for the build as you see it to add to your city. It really doesn’t need anything additional.

Value – 8/10 In the USA it retails for $40 which seems just slightly high for what you get in the completed set. Without looking at the part count, I really feel like it’s closer to a $30 set which you can find it on sale so that makes it worth it. I will say that once you get it built you don’t need to do much for additional modification. You could add a little seating area or something in front of the bar but truly the set is complete once you get it all built. I think part of the price was probably driven up by the Turkey Baster mechanism in the back of the fire truck. I see that feature appealing to a younger crowd.

Overall – 9/10 I love the Burger Bar part of this set, simply for the fact that the colors are great, it’s a complete build and it would seamlessly fit into any city layout. The firetruck is a good mid-sized addition to your Lego fire fleet and the minifigures are a well-rounded group without any doubles. The fire motorcycle is a nice little addition… maybe the rider can carry a fire extinguisher to the scene? Overall I got this set for the Burger stand itself and I’m very glad I did. Pick this set up and put it in your city. Your minifigures will thank you!

    It's a great Cargo Ship

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in United States,

Introduction: I’ll admit, at first glance I loved the colors and through this could be a Star Wars ship with a little modification and imagination but the price was too far of a reach for something that wasn’t a finished product. With that being said, I didn’t go after this until it was discounted but was definitely pleased with my purchase.

Minifigures 4/10 – The minifigures of Rex Dangervest and Emmet are a necessary inclusion but nothing outstanding. The real prize is the Raptor figures. Their dark blue and medium blue highlighted colors give a very cool darker feel to Lego dinosaurs and remind me of the sheer terror I felt while watching the raptors hunt in the kitchen during the original Jurassic Park movie.

The Build 8/10– The “ship” was the main draw for me and I loved the build. It very much felt like I was building a new style of Star Wars ship and the only repetition was building the engines 4x over. The finishing touches of angles and smooth pieces give this ship an aerodynamic sleekness with the huge internal area allowing for a ton of internal storage. Plus easy access with the folding side panels. Again, this thing feels like you could drop it down in the background of a Star Wars scene full of cargo and it would fit right in! The Rear ramp was a personal favorite inclusion. The two cockpit locations are built for the raptors so it will take some modification to make it work for minifigures but it’s manageable.

Parts 7/10– This dark blue color is becoming more available across the Lego sets and if you are wanting dark blue parts, this set is full of them. Personally I love the bright yellowish-green colored bricks. They add such a nice splash of color on this dark set. The stickers also add to the striping but aren’t extremely important to the look. There are a ton of finishing pieces in this set as well as structural technic building parts to use in any mocs if you decide to tear this bad boy apart.

Value 6/10 - I got this set for 50% off the retail price on sale, and to get 1100+ bricks for $60 is a great deal anytime you can find it! At the retail price it wouldn’t be in my collection. I’m not a huge Lego movie guy so it wasn’t a must have for me. I was definitely interested in it as I love the look and feel of it, but the initial price was too much of a hill to climb. Now that I have the set, it definitely feels like a $90 set in my mind. It has a good physical size to it which creates a sense of value as well.

Overall 8/10 – This set surprised me at how much fun it was to build and the overall amount of space you have inside. This is basically a big cargo ship with huge side panel doors, a rear ramp, and 2 cockpits. The side builds and minifigs don’t really do much to impress me. The Raptors are cool and would flawlessly fit into any Jurassic park collection. I’m a Star Wars collector that enjoys mods and mocs so this was the perfect candidate to take a really good set and mod it to fit my own collection nicely. If you can find it on sale and like the dark blue color scheme, id highly recommend this set! Enjoy!
