    A Must Have

Written by (AFOL) in United States,

As a huge Volkswagen van and modifying them in real life, I'm ecstatic to have this set. My wife bought this for me for Christmas in 2010 (had to propose after that!). This is a great set with great detail, considering it's made out of Lego bricks. Sure there could always be more ways to improve the set, but considering Volkswagen actually licensed it, someone in Germany had to think it looked great!

If you love Volkswagen and Lego, then you have to have this set in your collection. The Charlotte model with it's two tone blue is an eye catcher in real life. Some people complain that this is considerably larger than the newer 10220-1 T1 Camper Van, but then again, scale isn't correct with all sets like the Eiffel Tower and Tower Bridge sets.

If you can find this for a decent price, you really should pick it up. My wife got it in it's final days on sale on the Lego site.

    Excellent Set

Written by (AFOL) in United States,

Considering the year that this was released, this is an amazing set. Given that there are so few specialty pieces, this model comes together to produce a classic vehicle no one can forget. Sadly, after years of being taken apart and put back together, the stickers didn't hold up. The stickers that mimic the number plates were applied over a couple pieces that were tough to keep together when disassembled, but luckily, even without them it looks complete.

It's a nice set to set up on a shelf along with my Beetle and Volkswagen Camper Van

    Lift Away

Written by (AFOL) in United States,

I got this set when it came out when I was a kid. I couldn't afford larger sets that had cranes included, but I actually ended up liking this model more because it can be paired with other construction sets and easily fits right in, even with today's newer sets. The thing I like the most about this set is that it has a metal hook, which haven't been included in sets for a long time.

In short, this is a great set to include in your city construction crew, and the crate style being identical to other crates in sets makes it easily compatible with other sets/train sets.

    Clearing The Streets

Written by (AFOL) in United States,

I've recently been searching for directions of old models so that I can organize my collection and just rebuilt this little gem. I remember getting this new in 1988 when it came out, it's just as great now as it was then. As mentioned above, it's a great addition to any city set so if you see one pop up, really consider picking it up.

If I could only find the mini figure for it then it would be complete!

    Load 'em Up

Written by (AFOL) in United States,

I remember getting this set as a little kid in the late 80's shortly after getting my 4.5v steam cargo train. I recently just pulled my whole Lego collection out of storage and assembled this loading platform tonight. As others here have said, nothing beats the sets from the 80's.

Simple to build and the detail is great for its time. Sure the train car only holds one car, but you could always add another rail car of your own creation to expand. This is certainly hard to find, and even harder to find in the box, but is a great addition to any train set old or new.
