This was a fun little set, with a very unorthodox construction method!

This is a great little set, but keeping track of the stickers is a bit of a pain upon rebuilding just for fun. I do like the little battle damage that was added to the stickers in this Era of Star Wars sets though. Neat little details showing paint just getting a bit warn. The 1x2 printed tiles are pretty neat, too. Not sure why they felt the need to do that, they were only ever in this set (And in 7283 Ultimate Space Battle but it's just for another Tri-Fighter), but hey, printed pieces are always appreciated.

Also two Star Wars sets in a row! Shame that won't be the case tomorrow because that's Vintage Day, but maybe we can hope for Saturday into Sunday. :D

I got just enough of one of these used to have an appreciation for how it's built--and missing enough pieces that I have a deep appreciation for how relatively difficult all that sand blue and dark blue is to come by. It's not quite good enough that I've sourced them out, but it's just good enough I have parted the pieces out...

The buzz droid is massive and quite top-heavy, but it has a 2000s Star Wars charm to it, and you've got to appreciate that "pre-gotta have an interesting fig" era of Star Wars set design.

By in Australia,

My first Star Wars set. Got if for Christmas in 2005 from my Aunty. I liked the build, the most complex set i had at the time. Re-built it a few times, lost and found a couple of pieces. Stickers are a bit chipped now due to play and age, but I will always like this one due to nostalgia.

Is it weird that Buzz droids always get associated with Tri droids, when it's Vulture droids in the film that launch them? (Though it's stated in references they can launch the missiles)

Tomorrow, VSotW will be a vintage set…but this will still be RSotD until it gets replaced on Sunday.

Fancy seeing my first ever LEGO set here

By in Turkey,

I had it once, it must be in the parts bin. I liked the movies and the tech in them but not really a fan of the Lego versions.

Rejected getting that set as a birthday or Christmas gift so many times. All of this because it lacked a famous character figure. Kinda regret it because the ship looks nice.

Oh are we heading off on a bit of a Star Wars kick? Fingers crossed for a third tomorrow!

The 2005 Tri droid was a eriously good design, especially for the time. They nailed it on their first try and only had to improve minor things in later versions.

Lovely little set. Good design, good scaling (not too big) and no unnecessary additional minifigs that drive up the price.

By in Germany,

The golden LEGO age of the Clone Wars...I remember thinking "George Lucas wants to enlarge merchandise to even younger kids" when the released the movie and the series, which was a big understatement.
But all in all, i was thankful for all the different designs LEGO launched during this era. Got 2 of this Tri-Fighter version, a lot of Hyena droid bombers and even dozens of Buzz droid dome heads to erase the republic myself.
Playing with these toys was much more important than displaying it, second hand market offered a big chance to collect everything back in the days. Great set, great times for collectors!

Keeping track of pieces is definitely an issue for this set and its brethren. For me, it falls squarely in the the second wave of SW Lego even though it's fairly early.

First wave, blocky design.
Second wave, better design but shed parts like crazy.
Third wave, modern, sleek design and expensive.

That's a good way of putting it. Third wave often has some kind of integrated Technic structure too.
