Ah, the good old days . . .
Wait, what's a battle pack?
I love this set. I never got it, but it’s pretty much everything I want in a battle pack.
The clone trooper driving the speeder is only using one hand AND firing a blaster whilst operating it. That doesn’t seem safe to me. Surely the use of a laser weapon in conjunction with operation of a speeder bike is against some galactic law? Regardless, it’s irresponsible and sets a bad standard for the galaxy’s impressionable youth.

It's not nearly as bad as texting and flying.
Ah yeah! Battle pack número uno! I think I have one of these still in the box. Like those cutout visors in the helmets.

I heard a rumor that Boba Fett brings spotchka aboard his vessel.
Oooo here we go, the one that started it all...
This was a great battle pack because you got two plain troopers, one from the 327th, or I guess as the minifig was called at the time, an Elite Clone Trooper, and a Shocktrooper. So you were able to amass a decent army with some smaller groups that were more specialized. I somehow wound up with four of them to flesh out my Battle of Kashyyyk display, and then later replaced half the troops with the guys from 75035 Kashyyyk Troopers in 2014, and stored the replaced guys in the 7261 Clone Turbo Tank.
While the speeder in this set isn't exactly accurate to anything in particular, it absolutely feels like it belongs in Star Wars, and the gunner's station is also a nice little bonus. This was also one of the first sets to introduce the new blaster. As a big fan of the megaphone and stud, I didn't know how to feel about it at first, but they work and nowadays it would be weird if they changed to something like a studshooter... I actually don't mind the studshooters as I'm not a big collector of battle packs anymore, but there are times where you really wish they weren't around, particularly for MOCs and display. It's a good thing I had all these extra blasters from the guys I replaced.
There have been a number of great battle packs over the years, but aside from 7913 Clone Trooper Battle Pack with its specialized clones of the Bomb Squad, Horn Company, and an ARF Trooper from Ryloth, and my personal favorite rendition of the Barc Speeder in LEGO form, nothing can really top this first Battle Pack.
Man I must have one solid CT Shock Trooper Company with the ones who came in this set and the CW and Episode 3 figures, the yellow troops went to the Star Corps Battallion and the white were either painted with 501st colors or left like that.

Dear God, what is the world coming to
Ah, the one that started it all! When I saw these on Wal-Mart shelves in early 2007, it reignited the old tug-of-war in my heart for BIONICLE and Star Wars sets. For the price of one Barraki, I could instead get a Clone Trooper Battle Pack. This was my final semester of high school, and I had a lot on my plate, yet I still managed to squeeze out funds to get four of these squads for my "army". I only ever got one of the Droid Battle Pack, but that doesn't bother me much since so many droids in the same style continued to be released over the next decade. But these Phase II Clone Troopers? Virtually extinct after 2008 and those horrid The Clone Wars minifigures. I really like the design of having the helmet over the black minifigure head. Having ugly animated flesh faces underneath old-fashioned Phase I helmets seemed very regressive to me. Anyway, this set also introduced more realistically-shaped blaster parts, something I didn't even know I wanted until I saw them in person.
In retrospect, I wish I bought more of this battle pack. Still, I'm happy to have had the foresight to buy more than one. A fitting platoon to fill out any large Republic army vehicle in my collection.
Back when you could get 4 clones for $10. Ah, how the dollar has depreciated in value...
LEGO , please make some Pirates and Castle Battle Packs soon. (or small sets)
Back in 2014 there were sets like 850888 : Castle Knights Accessory Set and 850889 : Castle Dragons Accessory Set , so Castle Battlepack isn't a new concept.
The 3-in-1 and IDEAS sets are great, but there are no other current Newly available figures right now, and consider that the last real Pirate theme was 2015, and Castle 2013, that's a long time. (Nexo had a lot of Knight parts but even that was 3 years ago last time)
City had Starter packs for a while, and later Fun in the xxx and some blister packs.
Right now the only non-licensed minifig pack seems to be the 40472 : Monkie Kid's RC Race , which isn't really a massable "battle pack" either imo.
Those Star Corp troopers look so good. Hope to get my hands on a few someday.

This *is* a galaxy where guard rails dont exist, after all
I love this set. Such a great value for what you were paying for. You could do so much with such a small amount of figures. I myself had one.
But a friend of mine had three or four. And then he desecrated them with Sharpie. And it wasn't even well done.
Slotted helmets were better, looking back
I purchased a Republic Gunship for $25 several years back and this was included in the box for free. Although I have to say it didn’t excite me very much. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice little set, but Jango’s Slave I and the UCS Naboo Starfighter were also included in the box for free along with three other sets.
I went back to grab the 3 other sets they were selling. In the end I wound up with 32 sets for $100, all from 99-07. Easily the best deal I ever got on Legos!

In Australia the cops would give you a canary (unroadworthy certificate) if you installed a bonnet scoop like that guy has on his speeder.
There are certainly better designed speeders out there. This being a battle pack is not an excuse for shoddy design
One of the first battle packs and, quite frankly, still one of the best
I have the droids one, which a colleague of my dad’s gave to me for free a few years ago. This isn’t a bad one either.
Simply one of the best battlepacks ever made.. I might be a bit biased though ;)
The GOAT. I know people like the clone walker pack but this one was my childhood go-to. So many fond memories of these troopers.
The uncommon double seater speeder only has around 20 pieces, but they all work really well together and looks very authentic. Great set for my kids to give as presents at different birthday parties, just made the mistake of not buying another one for myself each time.
This set is what introduced me to Star Wars about 14 years ago. I could never have predicted how much it would change my life.
Looking back, it's amazing how the unmarked phase II clone trooper became so much more available with this set. I recall seeing the original ROTS wave and being annoyed with the scarcity of regular troops (I recall they only came in the Clone Turbe Tank, the biggest set of the entire wave!).
Thanks to this set they didn't become as hard to get as the phase I clone troopers (only found in the largest set of the 2002 and 2003 wave!), although I recall one appeared in a 2010 Swamp Speeder with Barriss Offee.
Edit: that one was a variant with a dotted mouth. So this battle pack is solely responsible for the increased availability at the time!
I had an eye on this set when it came out, but never actually got it in the end... don't remember why, honestly. I guess I was more interested, that year, in buying Barraki and Hasbro's 30th Anniversary SW figures than I was in Lego Star Wars, so this set just sort of slipped by as a 'oh, it'd be cool, but I have other priorities' until it was gone.
Plus, I did already have three Lego RotS Clones - albeit differently marked to the ones in this set - from the 2005 wave; so I guess multiplying their number, even with cool designs such as these, wasn't top of my priority list.
I was most interested in the Shock Trooper, honestly; the red design on the white armour looked great to me. And I'll echo those above who like these classic clone helmets with the slit for the visor, instead of it being printed on; I just find them more aesthetically appealing in a 'classic Lego style' kind of way ^^
These plain phase two clones are still the only ones I have (I never picked up the new version) and they still look pretty good, ignoring the change in helmet styles.
It’s a shame we have not gotten a proper clone battle pack in so long.
The OG battle pack. Can't believe it seems to be over after 13 years...

All hail the Microfighters and their THREE Millennium Falcons. The animal ones are pretty great though.
This set has got to be up there as the most owned on brickset. Haven't seen many RSOTD claimed as owned by over 10000 !
Unfortunately for me, this was released and gone during my dark ages, and I must agree in hindsight I much prefer the sophistication of the open visor molded into the helms over printed detail.
Hierarchy of quality = molded detail > prints > lame stickers
@anthony_davies:
Really? Most of your country is just endless open space isn't it? We've got the Bonneville Salt Flats out in Utah, and except possibly mining salt, the only regular use they seem to attract is seeing how fast you can make your car go. Or how far you can shoot an arrow without worrying about hitting a target. But mostly it's just about driving really fast. And hood scoops aren't that big a deal. You can even buy some cars stock with a hood scoop factory-installed. It's really only when you put in engines that are so large that half of them sticks up through the hood that they're not street legal, and that's mostly because you can't see past the blower. Or in some cases, you can't see past the head, or maybe even the block.

As a local I have to protest, most of the salt mining is done further east closer to the Great Salt Lake itself; the salt flats are primarily a potash mining operation...
I'll show myself out. :P
So I look at this thing, which I know I bought (I've tried to collect one of each battle pack based on all six SW movies, which has only been complicated in recent years where you have to figure out if they're based on a SW movie before buying them). The speederbike may not be based on anything canon, but it makes sense. It's that stupid turret that I can't get past. You stand behind it with everything above your waist exposed to enemy fire. And you have a gun that doesn't look any more powerful than what you can fire by hand. And the gun is locked in at a permanent 5 degree elevation. Unless you're at the bottom of a hill with a matching incline, you can't hit anything!
