That set name is long. Really long. Like LEGO Vikings-level long.

I never got this set, but as a kid I thought that aerial tram looked cool when I flipped through the Lego catalogs.

The box art designer went a little crazy with the motion lines/effects on spider-man, didn’t he?

I had/have this! So much fun playing as a kid.

LEGO needs to make more bridges! For that matter, more elevated trains/cable cars would be appreciated, too!

Regret not getting this back in the day, mainly for that cable car.

@CarolinaOnMyMind:

How about Rob Leifeld's Captain America where even his shield has pecs? :P

The 4-wide cars that came with the Spider-Man sets were just about the best 4-wide cars ever made. It's too bad they're so hard to find on the secondary market without the rest of the set at exorbitant prices, but they're not hard to put together from spare parts so it's alright.

It’s hilarious and sad at the same time. Whenever I look at Liefeld’s artwork, it often makes me nauseous.

I can't get over that famed picture of Captain America where it looks like he's swallowed a refrigerator. Extraordinary. Yet, Liefeld still gets work from comic book companies. It's staggering. Have you seen the "40 worst Liefeld drawings" site? I think they made a second one with another 40.

@xboxtravis7992:
I can't find it, but there's a panel of Spiderman where he's swinging from a web, has his feet almost hooked together behind his head, and below him is the Empire State Building. It's never been established if he's suspended from a plane, a really strong bird, or a particularly dense raincloud. I'm 99% certain that it was McFarlane's work, but I never followed his stuff beyond whatever sins he perpetrated upon Batman (and Batman's cape).

Oh yeah... remeber that time when LEGO Licensed Themes used to actually be accurate to the movie they were representing? Sadly that doesn't really seem to be a thing anymore nowdays.

That bridge looks amazing! Hey Lego, bring back a bridge like this that connects to your new (overpriced) road system!

How come “final showdown” is in lowercase? Most sets capitalise the first letter of each word.

“The final battle”

Then 76057 comes along....

The box art is a little odd as gives the impression the cable car only goes up to the 2nd far pillar, whereas from the instructions it is symmetrical with 4 straight rails.This is actually a cool set as there is a winch to move the cable car along the whole length controlled from either end by pulling on the string. It's also clever how the cable car rails brace the bridges towers and stops them from moving. As the pillar supports, rails and plates are standard you could probably extend this with more pillars, rails and string, or use as a cable car in your own designs, provided you find a way for getting the cable car past the end pillars.

It’s the final showdown! Ba-da da-da! Ba-da da-da-da!

I'm always curious why Sparks, from Rock Raiders, kept showing up in these early Spider-Man sets, since I don't imagine there just happened to be an actor who looked exactly like that minifigure face in the movie (though I wouldn't know for sure; only Spider-Man movies I've watched are the MCU ones and Spider-Verse).

I suspect it's possibly because they'd already used that face for the stuntman in the Studios theme (e.g. 1356), which the first Spider-Man sets spun off from; so I suspect that, for continuity's sake between the themes, they used the same face for generic character roles in the Spider-Man theme to look like it was the same 'actor'. But that's just my guess, I've no idea for certain.

(Also, just for anyone wondering: this is BionicleJedi from previous comments. Name change because that one was old and awful xD)

Yeah, well... a time when the designers had plenty of time to design the sets according to the movie. Like that 2003 set based on a scene from a 2002 movie. And a time where the studios had less worries regarding possible leaks from the movie.

Man, as a kid I had this set and I played with it a TON. It stayed together for a long time too in an upstairs attic. When the "web warriors bridge battle" set came out in 2016 I immediately picked it up because of this old set. (Plus both come with taxis!)
