This is close enough to a bionicle for me!

Well, at least it's from a space theme, though it's a ground set!

I find it interesting how the AT-RT has had "scale creep" over the years. The 501st set from this year has what seems to be a massive AT-RT compared to the original one here.

I enjoy these types of sets in the Star Wars line. One minifig and one fully-fleshed out vehicle for $10. I got this one at a Bartell Drugs in 2005. It still looks just as good as when I opened it as a kid. Still have the box too!

Actually, when you place them side by side, they're not too different in terms of physical size. The latest 501st one is certainly wonky though. This original AT-RT my not be 100% accurate, but it's still the best AT-RT of a scale to warrant its own set because it does not sacrifice articulation for detail while still having a believable amount of detail with a slight upscaling. Thankfully they did make the 501st one a little more like the original because I can get it in a somewhat decent running position, which is really not possible with the renditions in between of a similar or larger size, AT-ST's included. In fact, its stability is better than the original, but its design is not very aesthetically pleasing, putting the original still on top overall.

This thing is huge! *sigh* LEGO will never learn...

This, along with 6205 , was my first Star Wars set ever (I got both of them for my birthday that year). It's definitely oversized, but it will always have a special place in my heart. The V-Wing got disassembled at some point (I've almost found all of the parts though!), but this is still together.

With the official launch of the Revenge of the Sith merchandise a month prior to the film's release, it was this and the ARC-170 that I snagged for my collection. The Anakin Jedi Starfighter and Vulture Droid had already given me a lot of fun and high expectations for the rest of the wave. This Clone Scout Walker did not disappoint!

I loved the new Phase II clone trooper. I appreciated the growing resemblance to an Imperial Stormtrooper, and the minifigure captured this very well. But the set was the real star. Those jointed knees , ankles, and "hips" allowed for some creative posing, stability be darned! The only thing I sort of dislike in retrospect was how only the front armor plating rotated the weapons. The whole saddle/head section should be able to rotate, but I guess at this scale, this was the most suitable compromise.

Very glad I got it and that those $10 went to it instead of another Visorak. I'd be kicking myself now if I skipped this set.

How basic do the early SW sets look compared to the later ones... It's interesting to witness the evolution of building techniques and the parts.

In Lego Star Wars the Videogame I was disappointed when I bought Clone Trooper (Episode III, Walker) and he didn't come attached with the walker like in the level where these guys were a pain. Also, I think that might be the longest character name in a Lego videogame ever.

Well, The Skywalker Saga comes out in six months (maybe a year), so fingers crossed ;)

Best clone helmet, even though it requires a plain black head.

This wasn't such a bad set for the price.
I bought two of these sets.
Too bad the minifigure was never used again.

Probably my favourite of all the scout walkers Lego has made if only because it’s not utterly massive like all the others...

This set blew my mind when then first images came out. It looked so detailed after the AT-ST we'd had before. It had leg joints!

I never had this one but wish I had it now. Star Wars walker/mechs have always been rather popular I think. They seem to fly off the shelves from what I’ve seen

A Star Wars vehicle set that kids could afford in a far off distant galaxy. Out of all the Lego AT-RT walkers, this seems to best represent the minimalist skinniness of the original film, whereas the later ones seem to be wider and more bulky as they seemed to be adding extra pieces just to make the set box bigger.

I love this thing! Great set in it’s own right, but what I really loved about it was one of the alt builds on the back of the box—remember those? It was a small, open-canopy scout ship (or so I always imagined), and I really liked how utilitarian it looked.

Speaking of, is this the second time this set has been featured as the random set of the day?

Ah, the first Revenge of the Sith set I got! (Though not my first piece of RotS merchandise overall: that would be the Hasbro action figure of Count Dooku.)

This also marked my first Clone Trooper minifigure, which was nice; if I remember correctly, the AotC ones only appeared in the biggest sets at the time, like the Gunship, which placed them out of my reach. And I still like these old helmets better, where the 'visor' was a gap that showed the head beneath, rather than the current printed visors... they felt more fitting for the 'Lego aesthetic' to me, somehow.

My goal, I remember, was to collect almost all of the Revenge of the Sith wave of sets - or at least, all of them that included significant characters - though I quickly realised that was too expensive a proposition for me; in the end, this, 7257 Ultimate Lightsaber Duel, and 7260 Wookiee Catamaran were the only ones I ended up buying.

I don't have much to say on this set in particular; it was solid but not a stand-out, to me. Though like SpaceCadet a couple of comments up, I loved that this wave had alt builds... the last Star Wars wave to do so, I think? I could never figure out how to build that scout ship *quite* completely accurately to the picture, but I know I had a lot of fun trying!

I love walkers, but I think I've only owned one battle pack one

Ah, LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga. Specifically, Episode 3, chapter 4: Defense of Kashyyk.
