Aaaaah... Venice.

Ah yes that scene where Minnesota Cuke saves his girlfriend from being chopped to bits by a ceiling fan.

That's an odd looking crane.

By in United Kingdom,

Indiana Jones was a great theme with many movie accurate sets - I hope it makes a return in some way, shape or form soon.

By in United States,

Loved this set so much. Wish I got more from the theme

Man I loved this set as a kid. The boat exploding function was so cool to me. This theme definitely needs to return.

By in United States,

Great little canal vignette from Indiana Jones, but also fits reasonably well between Hydro-Man Attack 76129 and Ninjago City Docks 70657.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Indy theme definitely set a gold standard for horrific, violent scenes recreated in Lego.... BUT WHO CARES when the sets and minifigs were so damn good?!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Was literally just looking to buy this. I’ve got half the theme but didn’t get some of the others. Loved this theme so much

Never thought I'd see a Veggie Tales reference on Brickset. Nifty!

By in Australia,

Finally! The first of my post Dark Ages sets to pop up as a RSOTD. It was inevitable it was this theme, Indiana Jones was the trigger.

Gravatar
By in United States,

One of my favs. Still have it in my collection.
The tans, browns look nice on the boats and the action features are fun. Indy's boats engine blows up and the Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword boat splits in half and the dock explodes too.

Looking forward if they do one more Indy movie for some new sets and if they finally do the train with young Indiana Jones, the tank and ending set of all the Knights trials/traps.

To be fair sets based on new movies are just modeled after concept art, while the Indiana Jones sets (based on the original trilogy) came out 19 - 28 years after their respective movies.

By in Netherlands,

Great set. Indiana Jones will only return if a new movie comes out. In the meantime we can hope for an Adventurers comeback?

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

Although this set has some nice fuctions in it, I really liked the the one with the plane. Never had the chance to get it though.

Worms. Why'd it have to be worms?

Gravatar
By in Latvia,

Wait, wasn't this set already a RSotD? Or was it another Indiana Jones set?

By in Taiwan,

I loved Inidiana Jones sets when I was a little boy but unfortunately didn’t get any one of them as they were not popular in China back then. Recently I just got a brand new IAJ001 figure at a local market which costed me around 8 usd. I’m pretty sure it will be my best deal in 2020 lol. Hope we can see more Indiana Jones sets in the future??

Gravatar
By in United States,

Indiana Jones was a good theme, but personally I'd rather have something like Adventurers return instead.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Ahh, Indiana Jones. The theme that brought us LEGO Nazis. The good old days where "everything goes" seemed to be the corporate spirit at TLG.
Why was the Osprey axed again?
;-P

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I liked that scene in the movie. I never got any Indiana Jones Sets though. Licensed Products are always so expensive. :/

Yesterday and two days ago the random sets were cranes (yesterday - 6361 Mobile Crane and two days ago - 7905 Building Crane).

Welcome to Storytime with The Wacky Wookiee:

I was at Kmart back in the day and my little brother and I had pulled enough money to buy one of the Indiana Jones sets that were on sale. This one was there as was the Shanghai Chase. I wanted the latter but my brother wanted this set. We argued for a few minutes, but I went with this anyway.

I still wanted Shanghai, however, So I asked for it for Christmas. However, I called it the ‘car chase’ as names didn’t appear on boxes at the time. That resulted in me getting the very similar Race for the Stolen Treasure instead!

Now, I love RftST (it’s my favourite Indy Set in fact), but Shanghai is still high on my want list. Meanwhile, this set is now buried in the bins, but I still come across some of the pieces from time to time. I had plenty of fun with it’s many play features back in my childhood. Sadly, I don’t think I can rebuild it :(.

The End... or at least until I can find Shanghai!

By in Portugal,

I hope Lego returns with this theme one day, the theme was really advanced at the time and had an amazing design and builds.

I honestly didn’t think that anyone would get that reference.

Why do the boats have different controls?

That (extremely useful) piece was originally designed to be a fez; this set was its debut!

It looks better in person. I do think that it looks a little weird without any hair on the sides of the head, but the fez price works great.

By in United States,

Funny a big deal was made out of the Osprey, yet in Indiana Jones, we got WWII-era Germans, and a military weapon, the Thompson Sub Machine Gun. Not to mention fighter aircraft in two different sets--and the mafia in another. But, these were good sets.

I had the video game Traveller's Tales made out of the theme, and I swear there was a level based on this set. The boats are really well done, albeit, they don't float.

In the movie the boats are identical, here they have the lighter tan and darker tan, just so kids can play who vs. who and one wind-screen is put more forward than the other.
Plus one mechanism breaks up the engine (in the movie Kazim shoots Indy's boat and damaged the engine), Kazim's boat's mechanism breaks his almost in half (mimicking in movie where his boat's back end is getting chopped up by a large ship's propeller).

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was very impressed by the boat designs when I built this set, so solid and detailed compared to most one-piece-hull lego sets. A great representative set for the theme.

@Mr__Thrawn:
The manhole was kind of a key element in this scene, so they really kinda needed some way to represent it in a manner that allowed minifigs to emerge from it. Now they have 3x3 round tiles, and 4x4 round tiles w/ 2 studs. Either would have looked better, but radar dishes are what they had to work with at the time.

@BulbaNerd4000:
Welcome to the set the fez was designed for! No, seriously, this very set is the only reason they made that part.

@Darth_studious:
Probably for a little variety. They also have different colored bumpers and decks, and the light/dark bleys are transposed. And weirdly, one has a green running light, while the other has a red one. One of these boats is designed to explode, and the other is not. So being able to visually differentiate the two is something they probably planned for, and the different control panels may just be a result of trying to find two different printed gauge tiles that looked similar, and were already available in the two bleys.

@cody6268:
The Tommy Gun and the short-barrel semi-auto pistol were both introduced in the 2006 Batman theme. They were included in a multi-part mold where the components were all bagged and treated much like a single element. Indy was the first theme to use the long-barrel semi-auto pistol, where it got its own mold. The Tommy Gun apparently did as well, but didn't have such notable changes as the semi-auto did.
