Better than 75255, I am.

Ahhh... I remember this. The not very well remembered predecessor to 75255. This one is probably slightly better in my opinion, especially the excellent flute necklace.

Brick-built, I am. Pay a lot on the secondary-market, you will.

By in United States,

This is a fantastic version of Yoda. I've heard people claim that this version doesn't look good, and honestly, I have no idea what they're talking about. This is a beautiful sculpture with a really unique construction since it is all just bricks and plates. The instructions are a giant grid and each previous step is faded out with the current step being highlighted in the colors of the pieces. It's ingeniuos and makes for the progression of the model exciting as you can't tell what it looks like until you look away from the page and change your perspective from top down to physically viewing the model from the side. Plus, it's 2002, Prequel Yoda hadn't been too well established until that year, so this is based off Dagobah Yoda. If you're a big fan of the Original Trilogy, I wouldn't say your collection isn't complete without this, but your collection would be greatly enhanced with this addition.

This model has similar dimensions to in-universe Baby Yoda

"Yoda, you old sponge. You look terrible!"
"Yoda, you old, dried-out seaweed crisp...how are you, my boy?"
"Yoda, you look like a thrift-store Kermit the Frog..."
"Yoda, you look like...human marijuana!"
"Yoda, you look like a Geico commercial."
"Yoda, you look like the Taco Bell dog's fursona..."
-Palpatine, upon surviving death and meeting the Lego UCS Yoda set.

By in United States,

Considering Rebrickable's recent review on the new Yoda set (and mentioning this one too), this is a pretty timely set of the day!

Hmmm, too many Yoda jokes, there are.
Laugh at them, you will not.

Hypocrite, am I?
...Yes, yes I am.

By in Germany,

Love it. Also love the "Held der Steine" video where he compares both versions.

By in Singapore,

While modern sculptures look fantastic if executed well, I still have a strong preference for basic brick-built sculptures like this. The building experience feels more like sculpting to me.

Bionicle ball socket eyes are much less creepy than dish eyes... If you know what I mean.

By in United States,

This is an awesome classic; just look at the progress from 2000's 3450 Statue of Liberty

No seagull included, -1 points.

I love this model, and always regretted not getting it. A few years ago I updated the design to try and remove all the rare bits. I mostly succeeded, and it was a real challenge to recreate the head without using 2x2 corner plates. The LDD file is available here if anyone is interested: https://bricksafe.com/pages/NathanR/star-wars-ucs-refresh/7194-ucs-yoda

A hole at the top of my head, I have.

By in Italy,

I wish I could buy this set MISB, but it's too much money. With the same amount I can buy basically an entire year of LEGO SW xD

By in United States,

Yikes! Don't look at it Baby Yoda!

Gravatar
By in United States,

75225 is better.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

Disagree. 7194 has a true Lego soul. Way better than the last predictable 75225 build. Matter of fact, it's likely to strengthen its aura of evergreen Lego classic in the years to come, and a sure nominee for the "They don't make them like they used to anymore" category in the Lego Academy awards.

And a great parts pack (for the wealthy)!

Developed an overbite in 17 years, I did.

One of my mom’s previous principals had this in their office and gave it to me when he was transferred. Thanks again, Mr Cziep!

All that Sand Green... They may as well have made his head out of gold.

Bought two brand new from KB Toys in Montclair southern California for $40 each. Best parts pack ever.

By in Italy,

^ That must have happened YEARS ago: no toy dealer would ever be caught off guard nowadays...

BTW congrats: a heck of a grab! Did you happen to open both boxes?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I like this blocky LEGO look more then the newer Yoda, especially the head.

Yep! Built one, broke both down for parts soon after. Btw it wasn't a mistake price, in those days Lego used to liquidate old stock through KB Toys, and they had tons of Attack of the Clones Star Wars merch.

By in United States,

This is leagues better than the new one.

Ahh I miss KB Toys :[
