Today's random set is 4335 Black Robot Pod, released in 2004. It's one of 48 Creator sets produced that year. It contains 50 pieces, and its retail price was US$3.5.
It's owned by 553 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

These were such a fun concept, and the pod pieces were cool!
I never found this in stores, so I just have the original wave of four instead.

This one was hard to find, and possibly not available outside north America.
Ooh, I had the more standard green version of this. Will admit that for a robot creation set, black and orange looks cooler
