By in Spain,

Amazing that they could come up with an exceptionally better model and mini figures in 11 years yet still be the same price!
Good job Lego!!

A harbinger of things to come later that year. That JSF design was only aesthetically improved (and not by much) from Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter that came out in 2002. I didn't care for it, and while the hideous minifigures were to become standard across anything from The Clone Wars show, at least some of the other sets were great upgrades to set designs that had sat stagnant since 2003.

If you remove the bottom tray that contains the droid ejection function, this is the Jedi Starfighter that, in my opinion, best captures the in-universe description of the ship as extremely small and lightweight. It's not the most accurate JSF ever released, but it's the one with the simplest, most elegant build.

By in France,

It all started with this one. I received it as a birthday gift, for my 35, from my wife who absolutely did not knew that it would be the start of an ever growing collection! Or I'm sure that she would have not done that. It never stopped since then. We are in 2019 now and it only begins to slow down a little, just because I'm now close to having all the canon sets I wanted since I, thanks to Anakin's Starfighter, dreamed to have in Lego form. I will never be able to thank her enough for this. And each time a parcel is delivered she remembers this set. So do I.

By in France,

Edit : she offered me this one and Empire troopers transporter, from which we had the 20th anniversary version sooner this year. So 11 years now coming out my dark ages thanks to Lego Star wars, my passion for both, and the love of my wife.

Definitely better than 75214 from 2018.

By in United Kingdom,

Wasn't this the one that was released in two different packaging designs? I seem to recall that, at first, it was branded just as part of the standard Star Wars range for the year; then later, when the Clone Wars movie came out, it was repackaged as seen here, with the Clone Wars-style branding.

I miss that old cockpit piece. The newer Jedi starfighters look way too tall in the stern with the Atlantis bubble cockpit.

By in United States,

@BionicleJedi you are correct. I have the Clone Wars version, I remember the standard packaging on the shelves but didn't get it in time before they changed it over.

A small back I learned from a friend:
Place a yellow 2x2 tile over the wedge plate and R2-D2's leg. Not only does this keep R2 in place for play, the ejection feature works better, too, because some extra energy is needed to release the tile.

By in Brazil,

I remember when I got this one as a gift, it was one of my favorite SW sets, I loved to play with it. Unfortunatelly a few bricks are broken now, but it still buildable.

This year I got the new version, it was a joy to buy, just like it was back in 2008.

Oh man this was my very first LEGO set. The one that started my now-11-year LEGO obsession. If it wasn’t for this guy, I’d be several hundred dollars richer and many joyous hours poorer.

I remember getting this in the US in the summer of 2008 at a Target. It was almost nowhere to be found, at the time I thought it was probably so rare because it appeared behind Dave Filoni in one of the promotional video's that was shown at a The Clone Wars panel in Disney World just a few days prior, though that may have just been a coincidence.

This was my first LEGO Star Wars set ever, and despite it not holding up to today's standards of design, still holds a special place in my heart. I will never forget building this and running around the house as an eight year old swooshing it through the air, and R2 constantly falling out. I would go on to modify it excessively as time went on, letting R2 stay in the socket solidly, and a clip to hold Anakin's lightsaber. Unfortunately, this set has long since fallen into disrepair. Someday soon though, I hope to purchase a sealed, new-in-box edition of the set to replace it.
