Today's random set is 8495 Crosstown Craze, released in 2008. It's one of 25 Racers sets produced that year. It contains 503 pieces, and its retail price was US$39.99/£24.49.
It's owned by 369 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

I really wish Lego would do a re-boot of these . . . I missed them during my dark ages.

Drag racing on city streets is illegal. So Lego is promoting lawlessness.

The vehicles have an amazing design.

@ggj That's an idea. F&F LEGO Speed Champions. Same scale but highly modifiable vehicles. Stock version, drag version, tuner version, rallye version, etc.
