By in United States,

Good thing the ship is conveniently dodging all those lasers and they are all close misses for maximum suspense.

One of my favorite ep 3 sets

@Your future president

Anakin must be under that helmet, using the force to avoid the shots.

Huwbot's on an early 00s SW kick, then?

Great printed parts. Great helmets.

I liked that the s-foil mechanism and the bomb drop were on the same control rod. Roll for s-foils, pull for bombs.

Love this ship. I have 3 of the successor model, but I still think this one is superior.

By in United Kingdom,

Star Wars twice in a row! I'm surprised that doesn't happen more often given the sheer number of SW sets

Wow, the functions in this set are amazing! I really hope LEGO releases a new ARC-170 for the Clone Wars season 7!

By in Turkey,

I just started building star wars sets. I would love to see a nice remake for this set.

We are in serious need of more Prequel Trilogy sets.

Again, I show up late! Too busy doing the Starwars.com Clone Wars rewatch that I forgot to do Wednesday night so I forgot to check Brickset before going to bed. *facepalm*

Yet another great Star Wars set. I'll even say that it's better than the 2010 remake, 8088-1 . I prefer the nose to this one than that one, there are just so many things it does right in my opinion that are changed in 2010 that don't help it. The builds are relatively the same, so the changes stand out more and feel wrong. For starters, the printed parts in 2005 make a big difference, but specifically the windows below the central cockpit. They're stickers in 2010 and they just don't work because it's a forced perspective from a specific angle. The most logical decision would have been a profile view, but this is specifically a slightly raised 3/4 view, it's weird. The mechanism for the S-foils and bombs is repeated in 2010, except they are flick-fire missiles, which will shoot forward and blow off the nose, so what's up with that? The nose in 2010 is more accurate in terms of the light at the front and the nose art, but the cleaner angles created by the 2005 version is superior in my opinion. The engines also feel perfect for 2005, even if they are a little small, the Roboriders wheel and white Rock Raiders wheel together is beautiful, and again, there's printing, which the 2010 version doesn't have. The foils themselves are taut with the small white o-rings in 2005 while the bottom ones fall with gravity due to the larger blue ones in 2010. About the only good things to come from 2010 were the redesigned guns and the minifigures... which they still kind of messed up on seeing as they never gave a third clone. Kit Fisto is great, I love him, but he should really be in his own starfighter, not helping pilot an ARC-170. I know some people will call nostalgia, but 2005 has the better ARC-170 when you look at all the little things the 2010 version has that weren't bad in terms of still making a functioning set, but just don't add up to making a better ARC-170.

That's 2 Star Wars sets in Random Set of the Day where the first version is better than the remakes. I wonder, what'll be next?

By in United States,

Its strange that this set has not had any remake since 2010. Considering how often Star Wars tends to rehash the same ideas, it makes me wonder what is holding Lego back from touching the ARC-170 again.
