Random set of the day: King Leo's Spear Cart

Today's random set is 1286 King Leo's Spear Cart, released in 2000. It's one of 22 Castle sets produced that year. It contains 22 pieces and 1 minifig.
It's owned by 182 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

That seems an impractical way of transporting, well, whatever he's transporting. And he's the king, shouldn't he have people to do that for him?
^^At least it's not a 2003 plane, Clkits, Technic, or a Space set lol.
To me, not as iconic as the 1995 Royal King retail set, (on a white horse, chrome sword), but still a nice small set to get a king figure.
But as is the case with many small sets these days, they seem to be fairly regional or promo's. (that includes magazines and polybags)
Um, is everyone ignoring the fact that its LEGO's 87th birthday today?
That must be a very important stud he is hauling there. He could be off to Lego’s birthday party.

What is he even carrying in that? Why is it a spear cart when the only spear is a flag banner? Doesn’t the king have better things to do?
In all my years of having grown up with and read about Knights' Kingdom I... this is the first time I've ever seen this set.
Piles of these were available cheap, so of course I bought MANY. Then I filed MANY more Bricklink orders for standard yellow smiley heads and gray helms. Instant lion knight army. Still my favorite torso/leg combo around my kingdom.
I sure have a lot of gold chrome crowns tho...
@Rimefang: perhaps you could use the spare crowns as architecture. Make them really fancy merlons in whatever castle your lion knight army have
You know, I've been starting to wonder recently if King Leo isn't meant to be the same person as the king of Royal Knights. I mean... they both have the same lion image on their clothes and shields - not just both lions, the very same lions - their moustache styles are similar, and they both have the same chrome crowns, chrome swords and white horses (not in this set for the latter two, but see 6026).
Plus, King Leo's daughter, Princess Storm, is a redhead; and since Queen Leonora is a brunette, that suggests that Storm's red hair came from her father before his turned white... and Royal King's hair is similarly red.
So in conclusion, I feel like King Leo is just an older version of Royal King ^^
I remember we got another Kingdoms small set a long time ago, it had some chrome parts. But here is the return of the chrome!

This set reminds me of a homeless guy I once crossed paths with in the Tenderloin.
Misread this as King Leo's supercar.
...now I need to make that happen. Off to Lego Ideas.
