By in Australia,

Back when Shell sold Lego. I bought all these sets except the large Racer. Not too juniorised and easy for kids to build.

Thanks to Greenpeace, we'll never see Shell promo sets ever again. I was hoping the Shell/Ferrari Tiny-Turbos-esque line would come to American Shell stations, but nope.

Neat little set. Though to me, it screams go-kart not Formula 1. The chassis is still used in some sets today, surprisingly. Their value was good--$2. That won't even buy a polybag today. I seem to recall Kaybee having a few.

I just love 90s box art. The car looks like it’s flying. 10/10 packaging design.

I love love love these little Shell promo sets. I never ever saw them in any Shells, down here, I picked them all up on eBay, but I thought they were cute and lovely little sets.

Loved this particular Shell promo. Especially the big sets you could buy. Found memories of walking into our local petrol station here in Australia and picking up the car wash.

Oops, it seems someone fitted the aerofoils upside down...

Interesting: the "1" pattern on the 2x3 slope seems to be a sticker in the picture, but in reality it's printed like most of these "race car number slopes" were in the 90s.

Compare that to Speed Champions F1) It's amazing that you could get a Formula 1 in a $3 set, and now it's almost 20

Ah, yeah, these were cool, for what they were ^^ The only one of this promotion I got at the time was the Extreme Team Raft... which also ended up being my first set with a girl minifigure, which was neat.

Wait, wait a minute... I thought the design of this set looked familiar. Is this just a recolour of 2886 from the year before, but with added minifigure? That was one I did have; and it sure looks like the builds are pretty near identical.

Huh. I'm... not sure what to make of that observation.

@Darth Studhilus Well there's a fair bit more than 30 pieces in there.

By in Germany,

This line of 10 sets was available as early as of October 1997 in some regions. This was an interesting case, since their instructions gave a glimpse at upcoming themes for 1998.

Back then this was actually quite special :)

Also many of them had parts in unique colors or with unique prints (or lack there of, such as the alien helmet).
