Random set of the day: Jabba's Prize

Today's random set is 4476 Jabba's Prize, released in 2003. It's one of 20 Star Wars sets produced that year. It contains 40 pieces and 3 minifigs, and its retail price was US$7/£5.99.
It's owned by 5672 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

Lego needs to make more sets like these... cheap and simple, yet comes with minifigs of main characters.

To be humane, Jabba should have put him in a 1x6x5 brick instead so Han would at least have room to move around ;-)
This is good, and a good idea. This and the other small tatooine set released in the same year almost act like a gateway purchase to the full Jabba's Palace set released that year. Get this, or the set with his front door and the droids, and you have a reason to buy the palace this is a part of.
Plus, at the price, you could buy a few dupes for extra guards without feeling too bad about the extra Bobas
We need more small modules like this. 4475-1 , 4476-1 , and 4480-1 is one of the greatest combo of sets.
The second Jabba's Palace combines with the Rancor Pit. Is it a rule that Jabba's Palace always be modular? :)

@Clb204: I mean, they have been. 75206 had Barriss Offee and Ki Adi Mundi, Kylo Rens been pretty accessible, there was the Ach-to set and Yodas Hut, and also Darth Vaders Transformation and the Bounty Hunter pack from not too long ago. Maybe theres a specific character youre hoping theyll make?

I don't want to count the 1x2x5 brick with Han Solo as the third minifig. The set really only has two.
This was so long ago. It is so interesting to see how far the minifigs have improved with prints and molds.
okay, be real, it does not have three minifigs. it has two minifigs and a pillar with a minifig print. just because its a playable character in the lego star wars game doesn't make it a minifig! XD

I mean, it's not a good set really. The build is kind of a nothing, just a heap of bricks to showcase the carbonite block.
However I do echo the sentiment that a return to small modular sets that build up into a larger diorama or building would be welcome. I loved it in the Classic Castle days, and am pleased to see that Harry Potter is doing it (though with some expensive sets) today.
My favourite element is the pre-cgi Jabba!
I'm surprised at all the "we need more sets like this" comments, considering how much hate I've seen directed at sets like 7201-1 over the years.
Even as "vignettes" go, this is a rather weak likeness of the scene it's meant to depict, what with its extremely gappy construction. I know this type of design was a fairly common trend during the early 2000s, but even so it hasn't aged particularly well. And in terms of price, it feels kind of startling. $7 (close to $10 in today's money) for just 40 pieces? I'm not convinced that even the number of minifigures justifies that, considering that sets like 70680-1 exist today!
Truth be told, I think the more recent takes on Jabba's Palace really blow these ones out of the water, and thinking about the difference between them often makes me wish that instead of collecting Star Wars sets in the early 2000s when so many of them were so mediocre, I'd held off a decade or so until they really started to shine!
With all this talk about smaller sets to a bigger one, and Jabba's palace versions seemingly being connected to other sets, now I'm just wondering if Jabba's palace will be the next UCS set, with a rancor pit, stage, and other bits and bobs all connected in a huge display.. One can dream I guess.

I am talking official retail price = ridiculous when the US price is $30 (€40 in Germany)
Discounts can be up to 50% off yes, but that doesn't mean the base price is okay on some of those SW/Potter sets like Grindelwald Escape as well (132 parts for €30, $20 in USA)
Not touching those themes when there's better deals to be had in non-licensed.
@terixeri, i bought at a genuine store, just dont go to the main holding, speciality stores i know are always 10% cheaper than the biggest toystore. i agree that non-licensed is a better deal price/brick but disney wants their moeny as well.

Discounts are beside the point, Baseprice of €50 is not $30 when some other 2019 Star Wars sets are €20 = $20 (Star Killer Duel) , or €200 = $200 (Tantive IV)
Inconsistent pricing for Star Wars/Harry Potter is just annoying, why are some sets €20 = $20, and others are $30 = €50 (66.66% increase)
That's like saying, a $800 millenium falcon would sell for €1333 (In reality it's €850)
And I know US has a similar problem with City sets where some €20 are $30 (50% increase) in the US.
And to finalize this, this has nothing to do with discounts, or currency conversion rates.
Well this set has not aged well! The newer versions of both minifigs and the 'han in carbonite' piece are leaps and bounds better than these originals and the build itself is just a few brick thrown together.
I would like to see a revamped version of this set though. Something the size of the yoda hut set with the guard and maybe leah undercover instead of bobba.
The Guard's Axe originated in the Fabuland line. It's fascinating to see how widespread some of these parts became after the theme's end.
I think this is the oldest set I own. I keep it just for the classic Boba fig.
I think it's strange why the guard is swinging his axe in the picture and there is a motion blur. Who is he attacking?
