Today's random set is 6205 V-wing Fighter, released in 2006. It's one of 14 Star Wars sets produced that year. It contains 118 pieces and 1 minifig, and its retail price was US$10/£7.99.
It's owned by 10149 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

So, if a Clikset shows up for April Fool's Day, and a SW set for May the 4th, does that mean a Christmas set is possible on December 25??? Hmmm.......
I like that these guys sound like the TIE Fighters. It's very short, but they do appear in Episode III for a few brief moments and it's the classic TIE Fighter flyby sound.
This is a fun little set at a nice low price point and it's not a half bad representation of the source material either. As Star Wars sets go, it's pretty forgettable, but it did get two remakes so it must have sold reasonably well.

On the set, I don't have this as it was released in my dark ages but I do have the set that was released six to eight years ago.
Those 2x2 round tiles are exclusive to this set in dark red. ;)
This is the first Star Wars set I ever got, the good memories.
My first Lego set ever. Haven’t stopped since.
I picked up two of this set, I think. Mostly just as parts packs.
@MCLegoBoy: In general one of the things I loved about the prequels was how as they went on you saw a lot of the ships and other technology hint at a steady evolution towards the ones we were familiar with from the original trilogy. For example, the Naboo and Republic fleet's lasers were green while the Trade Federation and Separatist ships' lasers were red — a reversal of what we saw in the original trilogy, after the Galactic Republic became the Galactic Empire. By Episode 2 this was becoming increasingly obvious with vehicles resembling precursors to the Imperial walkers and Star Destroyers. Episode 3's Jedi Interceptors were also becoming increasingly TIE Fighter-ish in shape with their globe-like cockpits and roughly hexagonal S-foils.
There were also some amusing historical parallels with some of the visuals in the movies… for example, the visual language of the Naboo and Trade Federation vehicles and droids blatantly evokes the Streamline Moderne style, which contrasts brilliantly with the Original Trilogy's "used future" aesthetics, and is fitting since The Phantom Menace takes place 30-ish years before the Vietnam War/Nixon administration inspired Original Trilogy.
This is the first Lego set we ever got my son, who is now in college and still a huge LEGO fan. It was cheap at the time, so I ended up purchasing him another new set to give him someday when he has a place of his own.
