Review: 5005256 Marvel Super Heroes Minifigure Collection

Avengers: Infinity War features an outstanding selection of heroes. In fact, there was not room for them all in the earlier range based upon the movie. Fortunately, some absent characters can be found in the fantastic 5005256 Marvel Super Heroes Minifigure Collection!
These minifigures are exclusively available here and they look superb, featuring detailed printing on almost every available surface. However, the pack has not been distributed consistently around the world which is quite disappointing, especially given the great standard of the minifigures and the popularity of these characters.
Minifigures
Two previous War Machine minifigures have been created, along with the Iron Patriot, but this version is certainly my favourite. The colour combination of black and metallic silver looks wonderful in relation to the Mark IV armour worn during Avengers: Infinity War and I love the red highlights between armour panels on his chest. These only become visible when his weaponry is deployed in the movie and such attention to detail is extremely impressive.
In addition, the arms feature the modern United States Air Force roundel and the Mark IV designation, corresponding precisely with the film. War Machine's helmet appears almost identical to the minifigure found in 76051 Super Hero Airport Battle, although a couple of black details now decorate the cheeks. As usual, the faceplate can open to reveal James Rhodes inside.
The double-sided head includes a smiling expression on one side while the other is covered with a red heads-up display. A similar design appeared on Iron Man in the earlier Avengers: Infinity War sets so I am glad that War Machine has a matching head. This minifigure is armed with a machine gun that fits onto a neck bracket and can be positioned over either shoulder.
Wong was introduced during Doctor Strange and appeared for a second time in Avengers: Infinity War but was absent from 76108 Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown. This new minifigure might therefore be particularly popular and he looks magnificent in relation to the film, wearing a dark red robe with a dark blue shirt underneath. His colourful belts are attractive and these designs continue onto the side of the dual-moulded legs.
This flesh head features some facial hair and appears accurate to the onscreen character, particularly given the severe facial expression which reflects Wong's typical demeanour. He carries a printed 2x2 tile that represents the Book of Cagliostro but no circular Tao Mandalas are included. These are found in 76108 Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown though.
Iron Man is available in a couple of Avengers: Infinity War sets but this minifigure is based upon Tony Stark at the beginning of the movie, before donning his armoured suit. The tousled hair looks good in relation to the source material and the two expressions are ideal, corresponding with Tony's changing mood when the Black Order arrives in New York.
He sports a hooded jacket with an unusual camouflage pattern and this design is remarkably intricate, featuring reflective highlights that are printed against dark bluish grey pieces. The orange piping looks marvellous and continues on each arm. Of course, Tony is always prepared for battle so wears a blue housing unit on his chest, containing nanoparticles to form the Mark L Iron Man armour!
Winter Soldier has appeared in three previous sets but this minifigure is unique, wearing a distinctive dark blue jacket. This appears rather bright when compared with Avengers: Infinity War but is probably the most appropriate choice in my opinion, particularly since past renditions of the character have worn darker clothing. Bucky's olive green trousers are excellent too and a holster is printed on the side of his right leg.
This minifigure includes a new head which is decorated with some stubble and two facial expressions. Both appear prepared for battle and the Winter Soldier accordingly carries a dark bluish grey gun with two barrels. However, my favourite aspect of the minifigure is definitely the new pearl silver arm. I like the metallic gold designs and this element looks perfectly accurate to the film.
Overall
5005256 Marvel Super Heroes Minifigure Collection is probably the best Bricktober minifigure pack that LEGO has produced. All four characters look absolutely fantastic in relation to the source material and I think the correct heroes were selected, almost completing the impressive cast of Avengers: Infinity War. In fact, one could consider War Machine among the most intricately detailed minifigures to date!
Such extraordinary detail is welcome but also introduces a minor issue when these figures are placed beside those from the standard sets. The previous minifigures seem plain by comparison, lacking arm printing and dual-moulded pieces. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend this pack and am pleased that it is gradually becoming more widely available.

I think this set will prove very popular as I myself was disappointed that they didn’t have Wong in the sanctum Santorum showdown
Awesome set. Got it back in Bricktober and is my first ever Bricktober figure pack!
Just a suggestion: when reviewing mini figures with side arm or leg printing, could you include a side an image that shows that off more clearly? Otherwise great review. I am not a marvel fan but I am interested in getting them for the intricate detail.
Tony needs shades on one side.
My only complaint with these is Tony doesn’t have the glasses, otherwise perfect
@haldir - Thank you for the suggestion. I have linked to images showing the side printing, although it now occurs to me that I have not photographed Tony Stark's printed arms so I shall update the review.
I purchased the HP set when Brisckset reviewed it, but I'm going to wait on this one to see if the price comes down. Fingers crossed the UK will getvtge promotion as well.

I do like the minifigs especially Bucky's but would of included Peter parker instead of Rhodes..

Huge missed opportunity to include Scarlet Witch here. I would've preferred her to Wong or Tony, even though both are incredible figures. Wong really should've been in the Sanctum since I feel it needed an additional figure anyway. Wanda was extremely important in the movie and I find it slightly ridiculous that she didn't get a minifigure at all and yet people like Wong who appeared for 5 minutes did get one, and we won't even get her in the Endgame sets.
A great set which I'd love to get. Perfect addition for Sanctum Sanctorum set. Hope this is coming to German shop in April, like rumored for the US. I'm not buying much MSRP sets, but for this I will. Hear me, Lego! ; )
War Machine is almost up there with Silver Centurion in terms of detail!
It would have been nice to see the Winter Soldier's holster printing on his leg.

I really hate that it's pretty impossible to acquire here in Brazil. Such an awesome pack.
I definitely want these. My wife loves the Avengers and all the Marvel movies but we are light on Marvel Lego sets only having the six Infinity War sets and the single Ant-Man 2 set. And even if we weren't I like that the figures aren't ones we've seen a lot.
I kinda love how Wong is played by a guy named Wong. I've always wondered if that helped him land the role
GoldenNinja3000, disagree with you on Wanda. She's at least been in earlier sets. Wong hasn't. I already have 2 or 3 Scarlet Witch minifigs but my Sanctum set NEEDS a Wong, especially after all the additional custom additions I made to it.

Pretty sure the Avengers Endgame sets come out on March 1st. I've already seen three of the sets.

A new Captain America motorcycle. Likely won't show in the film.
Overall Grade: 2 Stars
This set is ok but the minifigures aren't bad.
76124 War Machine Buster
Includes:
War Machine
Ant Man with Quantum Realm Suit ad new helmet.
2 Outriders
War Machine Hulkbuster. A lot like the Infinity War Hulkbuster just with an extra machine gun on it's right shoulder and it's different colors.
Overall Grade: 3 Stars
This set isn't bad. Ant Man is the best thing about this set with his new helmet. War Machine Buster is functional but probably won't appear in the movie.
76126 Avengers Quinjet

Hawkeye (Ronin) Quantum Realm Suit
Black Widow Quantum Realm Suit

2 Chatuari Soldiers
Dark Blue Quinjet with orange/yellowish like thrusters and cover for the cockpit. Includes a big gun on the top like the War Machine Buster's.
Overall Grade: 4 1/2 Stars
This set is a great build with 832 pieces. The characters aren't bad but I wish that Hawkeye was in his Ronin Suit instead of a Quantum Realm Suit. Rocket is a nice touch. The Chatuari Soldiers are kind of a spoiler to the movie but at least there not Outriders.
Make sure to check out the sets yourself. Most of the pictures have leaked online. But two sets are missing including the Avengers Compound Battle and Iron Man's Hall of Armour.

I have actually received confirmation from my local LEGO store that the Endgame sets will be coming out on March 31st. So disappointingly we wont be able to get the endgame sets to get this GWP. :(
@capnrex101 You named the last minifigure in the list "Winter Soldier", but in Avengers: Infinity War his name was "White Wolf".
@Octopus.Boy - He is known as White Wolf by residents of Wakanda but you will find him described as Winter Soldier in marketing material for Avengers: Infinity War, hence I have used that terminology here.
Can anyone confirm if this has started yet? I don't see anything listed on the Lego site. Even if things are added to the cart.
My store contact said they will be releasing it on 3/8 to coincide with the Captain Marvel release.
