Random set of the day: X-wing Fighter

Today's random set is 7191 X-wing Fighter, released in 2000. It's one of 19 Star Wars sets produced that year. It contains 1300 pieces and 1 minifig, and its retail price was US$150.
It's owned by 2855 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

EPIC... I love when these iconic sets show up!
I owned the UCS TIE Interceptor. My wife owned the UCS X-Wing. We met. Got married.
Clearly, we were meant for each other.
The colors aren’t perfect, Artoo sits too high, the wings really droop and don’t open & close that great but I still love this set! It’s my only UCS, sits high on the bookshelf patrolling our loft & never fails to impress guests.
I remember seeing this one in TRU. The box made the colors hard to make out. That turned me off the set. regret (sort of...)
This & UCS TIE Interceptor were actually THE sets that brought me back from my dark ages. I wasn't totally satisfied with the X-wing though, mainly because the fuselage colors were too chaotic. A mighty model nonetheless.
@guachi, if you had the TIE and she had the X-wing, one could have assumed that as a couple you'd end up fighting all the time? But seriously, a beautiful story. :)

This was such an epic set. Especially when you compare it to other sets of the day. Back then, a 1300 piece set wasn't at all common.
@nashikens - I seem to remember the reverse of the box showed it in full colour. I could be mistaken.
Bought it when I was 11 or 12; it was my largest Lego set at the time, also probably the most expensive one. I was glad I had found it, because back then LEGO.com did not really exist (or at least did not deliver in Belgium or something). Even nearly 20 years later, it still looks great on display.
This along with the Tie in their B&W boxes are some of my favorites in my collection. Such beautiful display models.

Iconic. Great build, but techniques were improved on the remake UCS X-Wing. My first Lego set for years, bought used on a flea market, but it brought me back from the dark ages. That set cost me a considerable amount of money, come to think of it...
I was too young for this set when it first came out, but... dang, is it still impressive even nineteen years later. Secondary market prices for this one are (understandably) insane now, though, so I think the most I'll ever be able to do is admire it from afar.
I really like its look, though; even if it has some technical inaccuracies, it really seems to capture the essence of that 'classic Star Wars feeling' to me. The box art still reminds me of the first time I ever saw the movies, honestly.
Had the chance to buy this when I was a kid for £60. Hesitated. Decided to sleep on it. Came back the next day and the shelves were cleared.
Never forgiven myself for that.
My mom found me 10175: Vader's TIE Advanced for $10 at a tag sale, more boring build ever. lol
