By in Australia,

I actually had this, but I remember hating it because the crane mechanism just didn't lift the ship properly, so I think I just got rid of it.

Cool set. Wish Lego will make a new dooku though. Like the old yoda. Always want one.

By in United States,

I bought this set along with Tusken Raider Encounter on April 23, 2002, which was the release day for all Star Wars: Attack of the Clones-related merchandise. My interest was piqued because Yoda had a lightsaber! Remember, this was almost a month before the movie came out, and up to this point, we had all assumed Yoda never had a lightsaber or never needed one. So that jumped out prominently at me. I didn't even notice that Dooku's saber handle was curved until I opened the set, so that was a cool surprise.

Lots of fun was had trying to conjure up what this set was trying to represent from the movie. At first, I figured Yoda gets in a duel with a speeder bike-riding Dooku (as in, Dooku only fights Yoda astride speeder). I considered the weird hanger structure as a holder or charging station for the speeder. For play purposes, it could also swing Dooku's speeder around so he could "buzz" Yoda.

Seeing the film a month later, and it occurred to me that the armature could better be used to simulate Yoda's leaping and flipping during his duel with Dooku. Perhaps that is what the designers intended.

I give LEGO props for trying to keep Dooku's alternate identity secret by naming the set "Jedi Duel". After all, even to the Jedi in the film, Dooku is seen as nothing more than a "political idealist", who certainly wouldn't join the dark side, much less the Sith. Up until the end, everyone assumes he is still a former Jedi. Then again, he does carry that pesky red lightsaber, so the casual owner of the set not so-steeped in the lore probably assumed Dooku was a Sith Lord (or they also bought the new Count Dooku action figure which brazenly labeled him as "Darth Tyranus". Spoilers!

Ah the days with lisenced themes with yellow heads...

Picked this set up at a toy convention a few years back, sealed, for $10. Set has aged pretty well.

My brother gave me this set a few years back still bagged. Nice addition and I think it’s age well all in all. Love the curved lightsaber handle!

By in Netherlands,

Does anyone else feel that the super detailed and accurate Yoda head (as well as the other non-human heads in the Star Wars line for that matter) was a really odd choice? It honestly looks extremely out of place here next to the printed flat-faced human fig, and they have stuck with it through the years.

The printing on the most recent version does make it look better. Still I can't help but feel the heads should have been more stylized, kind of like Lego animals. Maybe Lucasarts wanted it this way.

What a throwback. Yellow head, that design of Yoda, sand red for a small bit of the... thing, old brown, old grays, printed parts for the speeder; the nostalgia is intoxicating.

The colour of the bricks for the speeder are unique to this set if I am not mistaken. I just built this a few days ago and I am still hunting for a few pieces in my LEGO to finish it off. Not the best set but a definite reflection of its era.

Fantastically unique.

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones may not be the best Star Wars movie but it has one of the best lightsaber duels ever.

Heeey, this is one that I used to have :D

I will admit, I never quite understood the point of the crane, other than as background scenery... was it supposed to represent one of the items that Dooku force-threw at Yoda during their duel, or...?

In any case - this was my first Yoda minifigure! In fact, I think I may have bought the set at the time specifically for that reason... but in any case, he did not disappoint ^^

I had this odd little set--ended up ebaying it a few years ago for more than I expected. Must have had some random, rare minifig in it or something.

And yeah @nashikens I miss chrome too. I see the pearl parts and they look alright, but then I ask myself "man, how much better would this look if it were chrome?" It's why I'll never sell my UCS Naboo fighter.

@welshysensei Dooku's scooter uses Sand Blue heavily; although it's not unique to this set (although I'm sure some of the parts, especially the printed curved slopes, are), it was certainly rare. That said, last year's Ninjago Movie bad guy vehicles used it a lot and it's been cropping up in Star Wars builds a little. I think some of the Lego Movie sets next year also feature it fairly heavily.

There's one piece that, as far as I have found, was only ever in this set in the specific color used here. Dark Red Technic, Pin Connector Round 2L without Slot (Pin Joiner Round). And of course, I'm missing one piece from this set that got lost somewhere along the way. Anyone want to guess which piece?
