Alright, another Star Wars set! Have to say, I know a lot of people will say it's ugly and the functions are bad or whatever, but man, I love these classic sets. Anything from 2003 and earlier is lovely. And this set still rocks. Look at those printed parts! Yeah, all stickers today, blech! And despite what the image shows, the wings are slanted (actually, they aren't in the image interestingly, but they are in hand), just not very heavily because they used finger hinges. Yeah, remember those? Finger hinges rock! Any angle you wanted, and they were level with all the plates. Nice choice Huwbot!

By in New Zealand,

These sets (any theme) from the early 2000’s might as well come from the 60’s given how they look
Shows how much technique and design quality has improved the past 5+ years

2002 was deep in my Dark Ages™, but this was one set I sought upon my renaissance.
Yeah, it's a little dated, but we all love a bit of Æthersprite, right!

I honestly think this doesn't look too bad. compared to how blocky things like the first versions of the sith infiltrator or slave 1 were, this is actually a pretty sleek looking craft

By in France,

As yesterday, a set I could just dream of when I started collecting SW as it had been already retired at the time. So I had to wait for a new version, which came after a long, long time of high expectations. Find it good enough for the period, and it's emblematic of the Prequel and CW. I eventually purchased last edition, which has proved quite unpopular with its too high situated cockpit. But I don't mind and am so happy to get the Hyperdrive ring along with Obi-Wan's starfighter.

I think l this set still looks great. They've never managed to get the shape any better than they did with this version. First Star Wars set I ever had with integrated folding landing gear too!

By in Belgium,

This is probably one of my favourite early Lego Star Wars sets, among others because it had a nice shape, was very swooshable and consisted of quite a few dark red bricks (a personal first, if I remember correctly).

Este set é bom mas eu prefiro a versão mais recente.

I had this one and only just sold it recently. I did like it. Quite sweet. I'm more into Friends than Star Wars now though.

This set was, simply put, a revelation. After the draggulch years of Star Wars in 2000 and 2001, some real innovation and progress was seen in 2002 with the release of sets like Twin Pod Cloud Car and this one, Jedi Starfighter. I remember it being released ahead of its other Attack of the Clones brethren, and I recall seeing it on a Wal-Mart shelf in March 2002 and knowing instantly that I had to have it.

Upon returning, I was not disappointed in the least! First off, the new pieces blew me away. Wedge plates! The large, printed slope pieces in the front and the small ones in the back! That new cockpit design! And once I started putting it together, it was even more amazing. I was entralled by the hidden addition of a "hyperspace drive" (in yellow) buried within the build, but even more impressed with the construction and design of the landing gear! Up to that point, Star Wars sets didn't have that level of realistic functionality. It impressed me so much that I still hold that landing gear as the standard to which future spaceship models would be held to (and why I mostly discountenanced future Jedi Starfighter sets that lacked them).

Overall, the set made for both a lovely display piece and a great bit of swooshable fun. I had many hours of fun with it alone and even more when I got Jango Fett's Slave I a couple of months later. It is still a treasured part of my collection, exemplary of the first "Golden Age" of Lego Star Wars.

I got three of these because I liked it so much. Favorite thing: the fact that the box picture shows the “wings” flat when they’re actually angled down slightly.

This set is good but I prefer the latest version.

As a younger Lego fan it is weird seeing people talking about how amazed they were by new pieces and colours as well as minifigs which are pretty far below today's standard. I kind of envy you guys. It's quite hard for Lego to impress us with new stuff nowadays.

Well I am pleasantly surprised. I was certain there would be nothing but boos and hisses. I like the mention of the wedge plates. I was young enough at the time that all pieces were new to me, but when you think about it, it's pretty impressive the amount of new there was. Not to mention all the Dark Red. That was new, too! Great talking points everyone! It's nice to see some civil conversation about anything Star Wars related.

This was one that I missed out on when it was on shelves, as I was still in my Dark Ages (except for a couple of the first SW sets). However, I was lucky enough to grab it up on aftermarket for a decent price, used but complete. It still holds a fond place in my heart, and began a collection of several other Jedi Starfighters. Great little set from the good old days!
