Review: 30525 The Guardians' Ship

Star Lord's Milano spacecraft is probably the most famous vehicle from across the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe and speculation therefore surrounds their new vessel from Avengers: Infinity War.
30525 The Guardians' Ship consists of just 69 pieces but looks great in relation to the larger version found in 76107 Thanos: Ultimate Battle, featuring a series of adjustable winglets as well as a removable escape pod towards the rear! 30449 The Milano was among the best polybags released last year so I have high expectations for its successor.
The Completed Model
The vessel has a wingspan of 13cm when completed so is larger than I was expecting, thereby allowing the designer to include considerable detail. I like the combination of orange and light bluish grey as well as the trans-purple highlights, all of which match 76107 Thanos: Ultimate Battle quite closely. We have yet to see the vehicle in promotional material for the movie, at least from the exterior, so I think our best point of comparison is the larger model.
A curved trans-clear element forms the cockpit canopy and matches the 1x1 quarter circle tiles at the nose very nicely. These are only available in orange in three other sets so it is nice to see them here. I like the light bluish grey 1x1 slopes on either side of the cockpit too, lining up perfectly with the wedge plates on the wings. This combination of light bluish grey and orange is remarkably consistent, even continuing onto the adjustable winglets.
Sand blue pieces are scattered throughout the model to break up the colour scheme which works very well and they are most clearly visible from the underside where one also finds a few more trans-purple components. These represent thrusters which are present in 76107 Thanos: Ultimate Battle but also serve an important structural purpose, ensuring that the model remains sturdy and is highly swooshable!
Wedge plates are used along the trailing edges of the wings, forming the streamlined shape for which Ravager M-ships are well known. I like the orange 1x3 tiles protruding from the rear but am even more impressed by the inclusion of a single light bluish grey 1x1 round tile on top of the fuselage, matching a similar marking found in the same place on 76107 Thanos: Ultimate Battle!
However, perhaps the most delightful feature of all is the inclusion of a separate escape pod which can be fitted to the rear of the Guardians' ship. This vehicle appears in 76102 Thor's Weapon Quest and its distinctive shape is immediately recognisable even in miniature scale. Admittedly, the M-ship does not look as good once the escape pod has been jettisoned but I am still pleased that the feature has been included.
Overall
I am very pleased with this little model. It is larger than I was anticipating and includes some impressive detail as well as an attractive colour scheme. Furthermore, the designer has found space for a couple of functions, the most notable of which is the detachable escape pod. These are a lot of fun and I appreciate the similarities between this set and its larger counterparts, 76102 Thor's Weapon Quest and 76107 Thanos: Ultimate Battle.
30525 The Guardians' Ship is currently available with Marvel Super Heroes purchases of over £55 or $75 at shop.LEGO.com and in LEGO stores. It is also available at North American LEGOLAND stores where the polybag costs $3.99.

A nice set to add to my mini ship line up.
Got this yesterday with the Hulkbuster - along with four other freebies (Zane's ninja pod, Year of the Dog, the color Hulkbuster print and the B&W one). I don't think my wife quite believed me when I told her that once you account for VIP points, the Hulkbuster was basically free! :)
@Brainslugged Not sure how you managed that. In the uk you would need to spend £120 to get both prints and this ship. Then no Dog. And they have sold out of one of the prints earlier today. I have £164 in my basket (Marvel and Ninjago) but no Ninjago Pod today..... good old shop on line never works out side of business hours. I'm sure it will mid morning tomorrow when the ship is no longer free. And we can't buy it here.
Like it alot.. Really want this and the royal talon fighter polybag, both cute n detailed sets for such small ships..

@Lego34s - I'm in the US right now and the limited edition print and hulkbuster were sold out online at 9.30am day one when I looked. So thought I'd better leg it to my local Lego store to pick up in person. I was there within an hour of opening and they only had a couple left. The Zane promo just started (I think for $35+ spend) and the Year of Dog was left over from the promo of the past couple of weeks (free with $88 spend). It made a change from going nuts hitting up all the 99c stores for $1.99 Dimensions sets. Not sure I need an army of cybermen, Powerpuff Girls and B.A. Baracai, but hey ho.
How long is it available for?
I kinda like it more than the full sized one.
Already out of stock at US LEGO.com, along with the limited edition art print. Hopefully it shows up somewhere at retail.
Don't know if I can agree with it being the most famous--I really love the Quinjet, especially the one that came with the giant Ant-man. It needed a few modifications, but nothing that required any external parts. It gets a lot of screen time in Agents of SHIELD, too.
In Australia, these items were sold out (as freebies) in about two days. Well done everyone who scored some! I just missed out, but I got a cute Easter Bunny instead :)
Damn. Missed it in the US. Sorry Lego, now I'm using up my TRU bucks instead of buying your full price items.
Dammit, this one looks quite cool! And the escape-pod seems to me more realistic in scale than the big one. But the minifig-scaled-one to me really looks like a fat-ass-chicken ready to release a transparent "easter-egg"!!! Sorry folks, but the best Milano will always be 76021!!!
@Furstynh - TRU rewards bucks can no longer be used towards the purchase of Lego Construction Sets. It was a change made in Summer/Fall 2017 - and IMHO - one of the worst changes to the TRU Rewards program they've ever made. Kinda silly that I can build up $40 in Rewards Bucks by buying all of the Winter 2018 TLBM sets and then not use those rewards on getting some more Lego.
@peterjohn Thank you for that heads up. I'm going to try liquidating my points on peripherals and that's the end of TRU for me. That was the last thing keeping me going there.
So I guess this ship is called the Benatar according to Amazon’s listing for the 76107 set.
This is available in Canada at Toys R Us for $4.94
@peterjohn0 - I've been able to use my TRU points on Lego as recently as a month ago - was this a store by store decision? It's honestly the first time I've heard that you can't use the points on Lego...
