Any reason these random set of the day posts just now started showing up on my front page?

@CM4Sci, Huw moved it to daily posts "to increase awareness of database content and encourage discussion about old sets." It's an experiment to see if it brings more interest to the feature and to create discussion.

By in United States,

Looks to have been a fleet/army builder type set.

By in Netherlands,

I think that I like this one more than the 2014 remake. Because this bomb dropping function is amazing.

The head on the new one looks WAY better.

I like this ship so much in universe. And find it's rendition pretty cool and accurate. Even if the latest (75042 of 2017) which I possess is a little better IMHO, with a better minifig selection especially. A good set, nice play features and nice also on display, with its insectoid face look.

Suggestion: include the information if there are other variants of the sets/re-releases

By in Germany,

Ah good times: only 21 Star Wars sets a year.

By in Austria,

I miss the times when Star Wars sets didn't have to include unique minifigures that were unnecessary just to boost the price.

By in Australia,

Speaking of random sets, is there some sort of function or query that randomly selects sets specifically from your collection?

The first random set that is in our collection - not bad after only three days. Not bought upon release, picked up on a globally recognised auction site, it's actually a great build, a good representation of the source material and has great features - the bombs can be a bit fiddly but it's a clever function which is effective. What's not to like about this one?!

By in Germany,

I bought this set on ebay last year, solely for the four dark-bluish grey 4L bars of which I need fourteen for my UCS Venator by Anio. Fun fact: the whole set, including instructions and (partly squashed) box cost me less, even including shipping, then what these four bars would have cost me on Bricklink. Crazy.
I will use these four genuine bars for the most prominent places they appear on the Venator. For the others, which in the end are partly hidden anyway, I used cheap dbg 6L bars modified (part design 18274) and sawed the modified end off to get it to 4L. I can already hear some people cringe, but it worked a treat... ;-)

As a random set of the day I would like to see a Exo-force set!
That would be nice to see!

By in Spain,

I do have this set, it was nice for a while, but unfortunately when I was a lad, I didn’t think it was cool, so I dismantled it for pieces XD

Interestingly enough, this set came out as a part of the Season 1 Wave of Clone Wars sets, but the gunship didn't appear until Season 5 of the show!

@Huw, the “Random set of the day” has quickly become my new favorite daily post. Thank you, and I look forward to making it a part of my daily routine.

Love this feature, and love this set, bought it upon launch in stores without a discount (rare for me, and hasnt occurred for years now).

I have to agree with previous comments on the bombin rack being a little too easy to trigger, but other than that, a very solid set. Was very happy to see a cockpit for one of the droids, despite this not being canon.

I remember really wanting this set a decade ago. In retrospect, it's pretty awful imo and the 2014 one is so much better.
