6867 Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape
Posted by Huw,
While I had my camera set up to photograph Iron Man I thought I might as well shoot the rest of the set.
The main reason for buying this set, and I suspect most of the Marvel sets, will be for the minifigs, as it certainly doesn't disappoint in the minifig department. As well as Iron Man we get Loki and Hawkeye, too. Loki's helmet is excellent and Hawkeye has what I believe is a new hair piece and a new style of bow.
The set is bulked up with some sort of armoured jeep, which actually is pretty good, although I am not familiar with the Avengers to know whether it looks like what it's supposed to.
The body is almost all built from dark blue, in fact there are around 50 dark blue parts in the set, so if you don't like the vehicle the set makes a good 'parts pack'.
I'll conclude this short review by saying the set has surpassed my expectations and I look forward to building the rest of the Marvel sets, which the postman kindly delivered this morning, on Good Friday of all days. Stay posted over Easter for more mini-reviews and photos!

I think Hawkeye's hair piece was used before in the Harry Potter sets (Draco Malfoy and Fenrir Greyback), and Bruce Wayne in the new Batcave, but this is the first time it's available in what I like to call caramel-brown. :)
That keep looks awesome. Would make a great city piece.
Huw do you plan to photograph the rest of the PotC minifigs?
No stickers Huw? Do you not use stickers in sets? There are a couple of new parts in this set which hold the lights on top of the roof which I am surprised you did not mention given their usefulness.
This is AWESOME! As soon as it comes to my Walmart i'm gonna get it, at least I have 20 bucks!?
the only reason i'm buying this set is for the alternative iron man minifig, this one is a mark VI and the one in quinjet is a mark IV, and because i collect all superheroes sets.
I've order this set from Argos and will be picking it up tomorrow. Money's tight for me at the moment so I could have gone with the X-Men set or this.
I really want Iron Man, but I equally want Wolverine. However, this review helped me decide on which to pick.
@Huw; Will you be doing similar reviews of the other Marvel sets? Also, would it be possible to have this under the 'reviews' tab of the set page, perhaps as an official Brickset review?
This is my favorite set from the entire Marvel line. I may even buy two of them for the minifigs alone.
@Jacob wilson I'll have the figs if you want the truck... :D
Hawkeye looks kind of goofy, the hair is an odd choice of style and colour compared the actual actor. But that new bow looks great. Be interested to see whether Loki's actual staff looks anything like a PQ staff with ninjago sai attached :p Guess this is the cheapest way to get Iron Man without stumping up for the Quinjet though.
This review doesn't really show anything the box art doesn't. Any chance we could get a parts breakdown picture?
That new bracket... will be a huge boon to SNOT building. WOW.
When are these available in the US?
Hawkeye looks ridiculous. Loving the jeep though. Also I like how ironman has the blue things. Is that in the actual set or did you just add them?
If anyone wants the set for the truck, it looks like it could be good for police chases with that big bumper on it.
@sarlacc98; The blue things come with iron man. You can see him 'wearing' them on the front of the box. They're designed to make him look as if he's flying.
I'm getting this for my birthday in 16 days and this review's made me even more excited :)
Got this set on order and waiting for it to arrive :) Minifigures are great, and I'm pretty much getting it for Iron Man, who in my opinion is the best avenger. The truck is really nice too, I'm hoping they release more Marvel sets before the year is out, and of course some Dark Knight Rises sets (which looks unlikely but I can dream!)
Loki's helm and staff are great...as well as Hawkeyes Bow. Great for customizin' figs.
Iron Man looks awesome!
With jeep Huw, it's from the movie (nothing is established in the comics for this vehicle) so it's probably fairly close enough. The jeep has an 'Agent's' feel to it.
The truck, which I wasn't that struck on previously, now I have it in my hand, is just superb!
Loki and Ironman look good but Hawkeye looks more like Scott Summers (Cyclops of Xmen).
I am disappointed with the "Cosmic Cube" given in this set. A clear brick wasn't very creative, and not a real collectible.
