I love finding these vintage jewelry boxes at the thrift store. They upcycle into beautiful pieces. I like taking out all of the inside of them. They're always kind of dirty and stained and they come out really easy and I'm just using a 120 sanding block just to sand everything down smooth. I've got it all wiped down with a wipe and we are ready to start painting. Love using my homemade chalk paint. It sticks to everything. No prep. You don't have to worry about it. Make sure you stick through the end because this turns out adorable. I've got it all painted, took two full coats, and now I'm going back with that sanding block. I love the distressed look. I'm going to put a little bit of scrapbook paper on the inside for a liner. And I'm going to use my Mod Podge to decoupage it in. So many different scrapbook papers that you can use. Just use your imagination. I'm going to put on some graphics on the lid using my Mod Podge reverse graphic transfer. This is so easy to put graphics on any of your DIY projects. I've printed it off on a laser jet printer. Make sure you reverse your text and we're going to use the Mod Podge to place it on the project. Once you have it where you want it, you get out all the rub bubbles and wrinkles and then we're going to let it sit until the next day. Next day, all dry. You're just going to dampen that paper and then you're going to rub it all off and as you do, your graphics will be left on your project. This is almost like magic, works fantastic. Sealing everything up with my polyacrylic sealer and you can use a matte finish or a glossy finish. It's all finished up. Let me know what you think.
