Father Petar "Pero" Brzica (born ca. 1917) one of the guards in the Jasenovac concentration camp. He held the rank of Lieutenant. He is notorious for having won a contest in which he used a curve-bladed knife, also called a srbosjek, to kill newly-arrived concentration camp prisoners. Brzica boasted of winning the contest by killing the largest number of prisoners - 1360 people. John Withers. The Black World War II veteran risked a dishonorable discharge and the loss of his academic career in order to hide and save two dying Jewish teens he liberated from the Dachau concentration camp. They were reunited decades later, sharing their experiences with their families.

Johanna Maria Magdalena "Magda" Goebbels, wife of Dr Paul Joseph Goebbels, Germany's Reich Minister of Propaganda from 1933 to 1945. After the Soviet Red Army entered Berlin, she was offered to have her children (Helga, Hilde, Helmut, Holde, Hedda and Heide) escape the bunker. She refused. "I would rather have my children die, than live in disgrace, jeered at". She drugged them with morphine and then killed them by cyanide. She and Joseph Goebbels then committed suicide.
