English (British English) is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. We celebrate English Language Day to embrace multilingualism, cultural diversity and to promote equal use of all six official languages. They selected April 23rd as English Language Day to pay tribute to William Shakespeare. April 23rd is traditionally observed as both Shakespear’s birth date as well as his date of death.
