The purpose of this six-session group counseling program is to assist children in developing strategies to help them put their worries and anxieties into perspective so they can better relax, learn, and have a more “happy” life. Sessions are interactive, research-based and incorporate related children's books (not included in the packet, but found at your local library) and age-appropriate activities. Group Objectives: •To identify stressful situations. •To share and talk about worries with others who have similar concerns. •To distinguish between real and imaginary situations. •To focus on the positives in life. •To identify stressful situations that can and cannot be changed. •To develop a coping plan when worries arise. •To relieve stress through relaxation. •To learn and practice relaxation strategies to cope with worries •To relieve stress through visualization. •To find the strength within one’s self to conquer all worries. •To review techniques to reduce stress. •To discuss new techniques to reduce stress.
