This is part of the free editing set from First Grade Wow. For kindergarten, I use it to show what they can do (smiley face in the check box) and what their newest personal challenge is (I highlight the check box). They keep it in their writing folders. It helps differentiate learning and gives each student focus. There are many other useful pages in the packet, too. All free! Editing Checklist, Second Grade Writing, Writing Folders, Writing Checklist, 3rd Grade Writing, 2nd Grade Writing, Ela Writing, 1st Grade Writing, Writing Rubric

Hello Everyone! I love helping first graders express themselves through writing. For me, the first semester of first grade is all about creating a safe environment for them to feel comfortable putting their thoughts down on paper. We work on all the different ways to incorporate written expression into our day. I just love when one of my little would rather write than do anything else! Well we are now all about making our great writing even better...That means editing. I don't know about…

Diy Punctuation Poster...I like this because it tells the students what the punctuation makes your voice do when reading a sentence. We've only been homeschooling for about 6 weeks and we've already moved our classroom. Actually, we moved it about four weeks ago. Yes, it kind of sucked, but it really worked out for the best. Our old classroom was in the dining room and after a couple of weeks I decided to take my craft room that I had only just begun working on and give it up! Crazy right? I was a bit sad, but I knew it had to be done! I really wanted to have a dining room and a separate classroom space. Honestly, who has…

FREE My Editing Checklist - 1 sheet. I used this with my 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students to help them review and improve their writing. If any of their boxes are checked "NO" they must go back and correct the mistakes and check the "CORRECTED" box after they have fixed their mistakes. I kept this sheet at our Writing Center and also had students use them for Writing Homework assignments. Correcting Sentences 3rd Grade, Editing Worksheets, Paragraph Writing Worksheets, 6th Grade Writing, Writing Homework, Editing Checklist, Third Grade Writing, Writing Checklist, 5th Grade Writing

March Madness has something to do with basketball, right?? It makes me think of the countdown till spring break and how quickly the days pass after it. I told someone today that being in my class was like heaven on earth. They are so wonderful, I can't even think about June when they will leave me for grander horizons. I need it all to slow down! Saw this wonderful idea on Pinterest and knew I had to use it: I couldn't find the original person that uploaded it but kudos to whoever you are :)…

If you would've asked me my thoughts about using anchor charts in the classroom a few years ago, I would've said something along the lines of them being more appropriate in a primary room--not so much 4th or 5th grade. I've come to learn that anchor charts are just as necssary in intermediate classrooms--and may even be more beneficial--than in a primary room! Anchor charts are very big in my school and the students here have learned to look for them in their classrooms over the years. My…
