The Flying Scotsman - the world's most famous train - booklet issued by the LNER, 1925 - cover by H G Gawthorn by mikeyashworth, via Flickr Old Posters, Flying Scotsman, Train Posters, Postal Vintage, Deco Poster, Railway Posters, Train Art, Old Trains, Poster Ads

As early as 1925 the London & North Eastern Railway were cannily marketing both the locomotive Flying Scotsman (4472) and the named train service - it certainly probably was a contender for the confident assumption that it was the most famous train in the world. The cover artwork is very potent - worked up by Harry Gawthorn, a well-known commercial artist who also did many posters for the company.

I would only recommend this one if you're in the mood for an easy read with heavy content. If you're a thriller aficionado you might find it cliche, and if you're in a dark place it might trigger some stuff for you: you've been warned.
