Bob Dylan proposed marriage to her, but she turned him down. Because Mavis Staples was focused on her music. As lead singer for the the Staples Singers, Mavis was the dynamic lead to a Gospel turned secular family group labeled "God's Greatest Hitmakers." Led by Staples patriarch and guitarist Pops Staples, Mavis was the family cook. As in burn, burn, burn.
