15th September and today's tiara is the Spanish Floral Tiara, the favored tiara of Queen Letizia. It was a wedding gift to Queen Sofia in 1962 from General Franco. Although Sofia did not wear it on her wedding day, she wore it in necklace form at her pre wedding ball. Infanta Christina chose this tiara for her wedding. In 2013 the Royal Family announced the history of the tiara mentioning that it was made by Collins for Alphonso XII as a gift to his second wife Maria Christina.
