"From the Dark" is a collection of portraits which consist of characters featured in the Dark Souls game series. By utilizing Baroque ideals to inform the pieces, the viewer is able to further immerse themselves according to the stylistic features of art within the game's period setting. Additionally, loosening the brushwork adds an ephemeral quality that is reminiscent of the "cusp of existence" quality of the games, and blurs the lines between fiction and reality.
