The world has known Mount Everest as the highest peak some 150 years ago and has marveled at Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay who scaled it over a century later in 1953. Since then, the Everest's mysterious power has enticed hundreds to its heights to prove their endurance and strength. Few people, however, realize that in the shadow of each successful Western or international conqueror there has always been a local guide, a Sherpa.

Sherpa people, meaning “eastern people” in Nepali, are an ethnic group at Tibet-Nepal Border. The word Sherpa often conjures up images of assistants helping western climbers reach the top of Mount Everest.
