The work that made him famous (Le Carnaval des Animaux) which was never played publicly in his life. At 7 he was taught piano and theory; but he had already begun to compose. He gave his first concert, playing the piano in a violin sonata. A recital when 11 preceded his induction into the Conservatoire.
