Extraordinary late 19th century museum quality French folding fan hand painted on vellum leaf with a rococo, 18th century style theme. Featuring six maidens and putti in a beautiful pastoral scene in a forest by the river as well as a lovely floral ribbon border! The reverse side has the original owners monogram, MM or MN, I'm not 100% sure which, surrounded also by a floral ribbon and ornate gold embellished border. This gorgeous hand fan is on the most beautiful mother of pearl sticks…

I'm obsessed with folding fans and wanted to make one to go with my dresses for big events. I tried making a large 18th century style one by extending the guard sticks, and this is what I came up with. Sadly it doesn't fold up very well, but I'm hoping my next one will work a bit better after everything I learned from making this one.
