The National Gallery of Art is one of my favorite places in D.C. to visit - it is one of the best museums in the world - and it's free! We stopped there in August 2014 on a quick visit - large crowds, muggy weather, but still a great visit. The only bummer was finding out the East Wing will be closed for a major renovation until 2015. Guess we have to go back once it re-opens!
