While seemingly effortless to most of us, breathing is actually a complex process involving the lungs, diaphragm, and intercostal muscles. Because we breathe involuntarily, many of us aren’t really paying attention to the 22,000 breaths we take in a day. That said, being more mindful and going so far as to practice different types of breathing can really work wonders for our health. Breathwork helps to activate your parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for relaxation.

But when we don't understand that innate wisdom, we will often work against it.
One of the clearest ways that happens is with sleep.

For example, when children get playful and rambunctious in the evening, they're generally trying to work with their natural relaxation response, rather than fighting sleep, as is commonly thought.
When we know how to work with that process, we can cooperate with their innate wisdom to bring about true relaxation and sleep.

Over the upcoming weeks, I'm going to be sharing (mostly) daily posts about sleep.
I'll be sharing about play and laughter, attachment and closeness, crying and raging.

Doors will also be opening for a live round of my Sound S Relaxation Response, Sleep Over, Secure Attachment, How To Work, Dont Understand, Parenting, Bring It On
