In Yoruba Polytheism and traditions Oshunmare (known as Ochumaré or Oxumaré in Latin America) is an Orisha and the god of the rainbow, and Osumare also means rainbow in the Yoruba Language. In some accounts he is represented as a serpent, along with masculine and feminine features. Oshunmare is a symbol of creation, human procreation and the link between the world of the mundane and that of the ancestors, the counterpart of the Dahomean Aido-hwedo.
